“Can anyone say cheap labour?”
One of these days the JobBridge scheme is going to look for computing graduates to intern for its own database.
Then the circle will be complete.
hahaha gold!
Isn’t Job Bridge for graduates to gain experience?
Companies and organisations used to offer graduate intake programmes. Now they can still offer them but they are paid for out of the public purse via job bridge. I think that’s the point.
You really are a whiney lot.
You think 4 or 5 years in a mediocre college earns you what rights?
Is there an ‘entitlement’ you need to make me aware of?
The IDA clearly sets store by 3rd level education, otherwise it wouldn’t be looking for graduates. It’s not about entitlement. It’s about people having a reasonable expectation not to be exploited by employers. And about everyone having a reasonable expectation that public money shouldn’t be used to finance this exploitation.
Baz you sure earned your PHD in Obvious Trolling
Somebodys paying for the cheap labour baz. Ie the taxpayer and the parents of the graduate who have to subsidise his internship. That’s even if he’s on the dole which is hard when your a graduate
Not long now and the Continuity IDA will splinter off in disgust at this.
Mark my words!
I understand the kickback on jobsbridge when newsagents are looking for “interns” to pack shelves but I think Irish people are missing the value of real internships. Working for IDA would be a great opportunity.
You have to be unemployed and on Jobseekers for at least 3months in last 6 months before you even qualify for a JobBridge internship.
the point is in an unemployment crisis to provide an unemployed person with experience that can lead to a job.
The longer you are out of work, the harder it is to get back into work, especially if you have gaps in your CV where you did nothing inbetween jobs.
The IDA may not have positions for hire at moment, but interning there on a JobBridge would open up a world of experience and oppurtunities for people in multinationals and domestic companies.
The continuous whine about JobBridge ignores the reality of how it is working and has worked for people who did them.
