This afternoon.
Is it yours?
Alex French writes;
know you don’t normally do this but I came across this bike, presumably stolen then stashed, while exploring a wooded area in SCD [South County Dublin]. Looks like it’s been there a while. Not an expensive model but if it’s yours let me know….
Anyone?

THAT USED TO BE ONE OF MY SPOTS TO M8, YOUR ACTUALLY MORE EXPOSED THAN YOU
REALIZE, SO I’D MAKE IT A QUICK ONE IF I WAS YOU ;)
@Alex: how will you verify that the person who contacts you really owns the bike? Reclaim it yes, but hand it into the Gardaí and don’t risk getting involved with the actual bike thieves, or some other opportunist trying to pull a fast one.
The Gardaí can provide a much better version of the (admittedly nice) service you are trying to provide the real owner. Without the risk.
If the owner can produce the frame number, then the Gardaí will hand it over. Simples.
Best to have three reputable witnesses with you if you are going to walk down the street to the Gardai.
They might try to nick you just before you get there.
Just send them an MSM photo and details and they can get the exact location from your cell phone photo’s ID and pick the bike up rather than you.
Spooky that last bit but.
An even safer option again. Maybe even a bit too much.
It may be a trap set by the Gardai.
Delete your post and bin your phone. Burn your clothes too.
Hahaha!
Its not SCD; its SoCoDu.
Do people really steal bikes and then “stash” them in the woods for months?
Doesn’t it look a lot like: https://www.broadsheet.ie/2014/11/04/box-fresh-2/
