There is no clamping in Cork (other than private clamping companies).
This is not unusual unfortunately. There is supposed to be disc parking at the back of the courthouse as well, but I have never seen any of the cars there getting ticketed despite that none of them have residents parking of parking discs displayed, strangely enough.

Criminal cases in the Circuit Court at the moment. Dunno why that would make people park like douchebags, though.

Is there any truth in the myth that the plans for Cork Courthouse and Carlow Courthouse got mixed up and that’s why this one is shockingly disproportionate?

Carlow courthouse was built in late 1820’s and Cork courthouse in 1839 so probably not true.
