Ah, the Ladies’ Beach, where in the 1960s you could pay fourpence to hire a changing room (now closed up with metal doors across them, then with chintzy curtains) and stash your togs and stuff, and where rows of mahoganied lady wives snored in the sun among the honeysuckle while their children frolicked in the sea.
