I think your readers might be interested in this event we’re hosting tonight. Climate Conversations, a series of lectures about communicating climate change and spelling out what a changing climate means for Ireland, is back for its third year running.
David Begg of ICTU, Claire O’Connor former international director for Vice President Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection, Oisin Coghlan from Friends of the Earth and Eamon Ryan from the Green Party will all be speaking and taking questions from the audience.
Tonight’s event takes place in Liberty Hall, Eden Quay, Dublin at 7pm, and FREE tickets are still available here. For those outside of Dublin you can watch on a livestream here…

Tired meme is tired. Climate is always changing.
But lets not put that in the way of the Carbon Tax…
Don’t spread yourself too thin on the conspiracy theories there, Zuppy. You lose, eh, credibility.
I prefer facts to theories. This Global Warming meme was going or 30 odd years with no obvious rise in temperatures. So they re branded to Climate Change; still no science just propaganda.
No, don’t you remember? It happened overnight on the 2nd of August 1993. Which was convenient for the narrative because if it happened during the day people might say it happened ‘in the blink of an eye’ or ‘like that’ while snapping their fingers and that would give a false impression. In reality it happened over the course of a few hours. One night. In ’93.
Ah but, some of us were awake, and it was a full moon that night !

It’s been going on since the 80s. Because it was being mooted around the same time as the Star Wars programme and the end of the Cold War and at the start of the Aids crisis, everyone thought that we were to be destroyed in far more horrific ways that a slightly warmer Earth. Plus James Lovelock stated that the planet was doing it’s own thing anyway and we were mere parasites that would either thrive or die out. Then we all started talking about carbon emissions. Then Gore came along and decided to base his entire career on it. Now there are protests and marches ‘against climate change’….which has to be the hilarious bit.
Volcanoes are always erupting, the earth is always quaking, the waters are always rising the deserts are always spreading, the seas are always warming etc etc etc.
…Eamon Ryan’s stance on environmental protection has one thing in common with David Begg’s position on protection of workers rights….both are toxic but no longer relevant.
Remind me, how did David Begg get on when he was on the board of the Central Bank? Oh…
