Interestingly diesel is only cheaper as Revenue charge less in duty. In many countries, the UK for example, diesel is more expensive….. Because of duty….

Is it the government that make retailers increase the price of fuel immediately when the price of crude goes up and then make them drop it slowly when crude goes down?

    desperation?

how is informing people that their government get the largest cut of every sale considered desperate?

But surely the cost of the crude oil, and its refinement, is, from the customers’ pov, borne by the oil company. Which significantly increases the amount paid to oil company.

Does it surprise anybody that the government are bleeding you dry? It’s been going on for the last 7-8 years. Do you know why? Because we’re bailing out the banks, stupid!

John, you should probably study the governments annual expenditure before making definitive and incorrect statements

would they also like to readily share the cost breakdown and markup on other items sold at forecourts? i.e. milk, bread, coffee etc.

Probably not seeing as the consumer has lots of alternatives when it comes to purchasing coffee, milk and whatever else.

I worked in a petrol Station way back in the 1990s and the situation was the exact same. I recall our manager telling us when petrol was 77p a liter that if there was no duty we could sell it for 22p a liter and still make the same profit.

      These numbers prove that
