Catherine McGuinness (right) and community garda Kerrie Sullivan yesterday
We’ll see whinging and quite a few tears,
As the No side face all their worst fears,
They’re bound to object,
That’s it’s just not correct,
For the guards to be nice to the queers.

Tricky one – while I think that it’s nice to see a member of the Gardaí encouraging people to register to vote, the fact that is was organised as part of the Yes campaign will give the No campaigners something to point to as evidence that they are being ‘persecuted’ for their beliefs.
But it’s not as if the No side have an interest in getting people registered, more young people voting is like their kryptonite.
True – but the fact that it was organised as part of the Yes campaign gives credence to daft comments like Melina’s below.
Can be sorted by offering to do a voter recruitment drive for the No side too. A visit to an old folks home for priests should cover it. I mean they won’t take them up on it, but it’d be fair.
Having the police force of a country take part in political campaigns is not a road you want to go down. There are many reasons that they’re not supposed to take sides, and taking sides equally does nothing to improve things.
+1 Pird
What if uniformed Gardaí were out campaigning for a No vote, I’d say people wouldn’t be as blasé about it then.
They weren’t campaigning for a no vote. They were informing people how to register to vote. What you do with it then is up to you.
…or a yes vote. Whatever.
Thanks for pointing this out John Moynes. It is indeed, a sinister turn of events.
The Garda should be disciplined. Don’t they have a professional code of conduct as State servants?
Joan Burton’s political policing Parte 2.0.
Well, these are definitely part of their code of conduct but I’m not sure you would agree with them
Article 1 Respect the human dignity of every person.
Article 2 Uphold and protect the human rights of all.
Article 3 Respect and support the diversity and equality of cultures and beliefs in our society.
Wrong. Pay more attention in class.
END OF MELINA END OF!!
Nice one Johnny
You do have in ya
Just remember where you leave it in future
Doesn’t Mr Mills agree that we should vote on having the opportunity to elect a younger president?
a baton in one hand and a ballot box in the other !

Or you any less of a schmuck!
Catherine McGuinness looks like the loveliest granny ever.
