This afternoon.

Scenes from the second day of the three-day Puck Fair in Kilorglin, Co Kerry.

‘King Puck’ (pic 2) is suspended above the town in a crane (pic 1) to the consternation of animal rights activists and, quite possibly, himself.

        distressing
        …and distracting…
        …and deliberately destructive to the argument, which is;

It doesn’t matter how much you mistreat animals.
You shouldn’t mistreat them at all.
        I know that from experience.

I grew up putting lipstick on my neighbour’s goats.
I’ve been out for nearly two years now, and determined to never go back.

If people in the inner-city were banned from keeping feckin’ horses, you might have a point.

      1. All the good ones fly south for winter

We need those to get up the stairs for when the lifts are broken.

      Yea it looks so distressed.

You’re right no need for a real animal, so they won’t bother bringing it down giving it a nice feed for two weeks and helping it rid itself of all those internal parasites eating their way through its liver, lungs and gut (fluke, lungworm and stomach worm respectively).

If my choice was between a few days ins cage or having a host of parasites Id pick the cage. But then I’m not a goat and neither are you so who knows

The pictures show it all nothing but a backward fair with uneducated people look at the state of them all they need to come into the present day and realise this is not acceptable anymore.
I would be embarrassed to be from this place, a bunch of skanky oul farmers and dealers wanting to make money all the while the goat is stressed to bits.
    They need to cop on.

Seriously apart from projection how does that goat look stressed? It’s ears are relaxed (they’d be straight up if stressed) and it’s eating. Stressed animals don’t chew away.

As for the rest of your nice balanced critique of “skanky old farmers”. Your letting your anti-rural mask slip a little there. Let me remind you, vegan, vegetarian or omnivore the people who feed are probably slanky old farmers or their sons/daughters. While you might be an entirely modern worldly person of pure class and taste you still depend on my skanky lot for your survival.

I’ve friends down that country who say it’s great craic, community spirit and a way to reconnect with a section of our rural past that’s been whitewashed nearly out. Also it’s a great drinking feast and a serious draw for tourists.

So yea if your into that, it’s worth a visit, don’t expect opera though

Should point out all second hand. Never been so I dunno how much better is that a normal local rural fair day. Probably just bigger with more tourists

That’s how I’d describe it. It’s huge and 90% of non tourists are there for the party so the atmosphere is great. Also you’re in Kerry Hoop so there are plenty of other options within 30 to 40mins drive.
