After spending two years living in Japan, myself and my girlfriend are on our way home to Ireland by bicycle! We’ve just completed the Mongolian leg of our journey. Check out our photo blog here.

A wonderful adventure.
I’m not looking at that, I’m jealous enough with what I’ve seen already :(
Safe trip you two!
…yep…jealous is the word..step away from the blog Clampers, it’s addictive.
I looked… I turned green… :)
What! you mean people can go an an adventure like that and not try and claim its for ‘charadee’?
Sorry if I’m being negative but these ‘charity’ adventures really get up my nose (of which this is not one) , If you want to go on an adventure, just go…
Ii is an impressive effort though, I would definitely consider that…
You do realise that if you do a charity thing you still have to cover your own costs?
I know plenty of people who take part in charity trips and most of the donations never go near the fund-raiser. It’s mainly on-line. The fund raiser must still pay their way (transport/food etc).
Like I told a friend of mine , who asked me to help ‘sponsor’ his charity climb of kilimanjaro. If you really care about that charity, and he seemed to , cancel the trip, add what you would have spent on the trip to what you might have collected in charitable donations and Ill match that figure.
It could have been an expensive payout by me, but it was for charity… there was no danger however , he was more interested in the trip than the charity as it turned out ….
So you were surprised that your friend turned down your “offer” that he pay the cost of the trip PLUS any third party donations from his own pocket and you, his moneyed friend, would match it?
He should of course pay the cost of the trip but his contribution is raising money by climbing. Your contribution was to snipe and sneer.
Stop calling him your friend, I’m sure he has.
Can you explain how climbing a mountain generates money?
Serval –
You climb a mountain, ask people to sponsor you in aid of your favourite charity.
You know, for kids.
Your welcome.
You’re
*I don’t like having to do that, but it’s fu€king annoying.
Not if the adventurer is the organiser of the Charideeee trip which many are. Loads of these are just big long holidays paid for in full by everyone but the people going on the trip.
This couple are doing it the right way.
I know of at least three of these types of venture and in each case all of those involved funded their own trips.
Money was raised for worthy causes and they got an adventure. Everyone wins.
Stop feckin moaning.
Sry Mr.T, that was unnecessarily cranky.
Long day..
Im the same when it comes to this adventure for Charity, this one looks not to be but thats worse, send it to your friend/family but they are no more than Holiday pictures and I have zero interest in seeing them.
Controversial
The whole couple-y / selfie thing is a tad nauseous but nice travels, nice landscapes.
No.
It looks amazing, what a journey to take.
I’ve wanted to do something like this since I was an angsty snotty teenager. Fair play to both of them. Hope they enjoy every minute.
Who took the 5th photo?
Their sherpa?
That’s some serious cycling. I cycled back to Ireland from Poland earlier this year, but there weren’t any serious mountains or deserts or long, long, sections far from comfortable beds and modern conveniences.
I don’t envy them the saddle soreness, or the tiredness, but wow, it will be quite an adventure.
Are they vegetarians?
This pair would eat themselves if they could.
