Last night.

Everyone’s a critic.

Dara writes:

Altercation with a busker on O’Connell Street {Dublin]…. And a good catch at the end!

Ker-tish.

Busker Jason adds:

About 30 minutes before this incident the same woman kicked my snare case (which I had luckily emptied just moments before) just looking for trouble.Anyway this time the case was full of coins and when I saw her coming with her eyes on the case I had to intervene….

Hate town at night time. The screeching of skangers and locked idiots falling around.

In New York, cops park up with their lights on and stand in groups for a show of force. It works. Feel safer in Manhattan than I do in central Dublin.

Same, I feel safer in most other places than I do in Dublin. The cops here have f*ck all resources anymore so the skangerism goes unchecked.

Stats are one thing, but experiencing it is another thing altogether.

Out of all the cities I’ve lived in my life, including some “rough” areas of London, I always have to keep my wits about me on O’Connell Street.

North Lotts lane might as well be an injection centre. You have to hop scotch around used needles on the best of days.

Dublin is an awful kip at the best of times but at night it ain’t great to be wandering about.
      Welcome to Scobe City.

Its actually very safe. You’re just a snob.

A small handful of real incidents play to your pre-existing stereotypes of people with working class accents.

        1. RobinBoy

          You’re wrong.
I live in the city centre and it’s a fvcking nightmare at night-time.
I’ve had far more altercations on O’Connel st/Abbey St in one tear that I’ve had in my whole life anywhere else.
Including scumbags trying to rob me, throwing eggs, screaming in peoples faces and then looking for a fight when you question them, not to mention robbing shops left, right and centre.
It’s embarrassing that this stretch of hell is meant to be a main street.
The Garda station looks like a joke building from father ted and the presence on the ground is woeful.

That is Dublin town in the video. Hate town is elsewhere and it is supposed to be lovely. I hope you live in Manhattan.

      +1 What was he thinking?

Obnoxious shouty ferals roaming the streets looking to wreck someones life for the laugh.

  2. Cloud

Every time I see that guy I wonder what is he thinking playing drums on O’Connell St; he tends to always have junkies and dipsos etc hanging around him.

Surely there’s a better place to set up than that.

    1. scottser

dude, you forgot to tell a drummer joke first. ok, i’ll go:

how do you know there’s a drummer at the door?
he doesn’t know when to come in..

        1. bisted

…what do you call girls who hang around with rock groups: groupies
what do you call guys who hang around with rock groups: ********

          1. rotide

            Drummers.

How do you know when a drummers riser is level?

Equal amounts of drool on each side of the drummers mouth.

          2. PhilJo

What’s the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?
            .
            .
            .
you only have to punch the rhythm into the drum machine once

      1. Sancho

You’re mixing up drummer and singer jokes.

How do you know there’s a singer at your door? He cant find the key and doesn’t know when to come in.

How do you know there’s a drummer at your door? The knocking speeds up.

But my favorite- what’s the difference between a drummer and a horse? A drummer doesn’t sh*t in the parade.

  3. Custo

Yeah! Who does he think he is trying to bring a bit of energy and entertainment and music to O’Connell street, like some sort of idiot! What a moron! *kicks broadsheet*

  4. Digs

I can relate to that women and Mannix Flynn. Only thing worse than a busker? A Drummer! I did a drummer joke!

  5. Bobby

A part of me wanted him to finish the catch by smacking her in the face with it and getting a perfect “tish” sound.

    1. RobinBoy

      No. Not all of it.
But some areas do tend to attract scum more than others, just waiting in feral groups trying to pick on people just going about their business.

  6. Mike Baldwin

Members of ISIS are receiving counselling for what they witnessed in Abrakebabra last Friday. No one should have to see that…..
