Was he from the Fujian province of China, because gay marriage was allowed back in the day in that region apparently.

The putrid stench of hypocrisy pervades Frank O’Meara’s musings on the state extending marriage to same-sex couples. The manner in which he obsesses with sodomy not only reeks of sexual immaturity but they way he talks, one would think the vagina is an orifice of the utmost purity, sanctity and cleanliness. Something tells me, this luminary has not had much experience of human sexuality.

Mortal as opposed to venial or eternal. It has a specific definition. It’s one you can go to hell for but can repent and be forgiven, I think.
dan
Nah, mortal sin’s the one you can’t get rid of, venial are the ones you can, mortal sin’s are ‘grave’ and are willingly committed in the knowledge that they’re sins.
Anything that isn’t grave, done in full knowledge and with full consent is venial.
Mind you it’s hard to keep track of magic stuff.

He is completely right, same sex marriage is civil only and not church based. No one is claiming otherwise.

His 1st point on the definition of marriage doesn’t seem to rule out same sex marriage as it doesn’t mention who’s doing the giving and taking. There’s nothing there to say a man can’t take another man as husband nor a woman another woman as wife.
Sure as long as he’s fighting a battle he’s already lost he’s safely ignored.

Whatever about “great craic” at parties, he’s late to this one – too busy foaming at the mouth, by the looks of the letter!
Seeing as we are sticking to what was done by the good guys in the Bible I guess Frank will be cool out with people marrying their half-sister / half-brother. You know, like Abraham in the Bible did.
Marriage was around in pre-Christian times and so reverting to the historical Catholic / Christian version only shows that Frank is only willing to listen to some of the truth when he speaks of the historical meaning that he says was “always” there. Because clearly, it was NOT always there.
Anyway, his whole arguement is that he says it doesn’t matter what these people do because it will never be a “marriage” recognised by the version of marriage he subscribes to which is the RCC “sacrament of marriage” which no one wants anyway.
So what’s his beef? He’s of the belief that Christianity ‘owns’ marriage…… well he can fupp off with that bit of stupidity for starters and stop interfering in other peoples marriage outside the RCC version.
Frank’s just an imbecile if he thinks the RCC owns “marriage”, which he clearly does think.

The sins of Sodom are widely misunderstood. They were sins of orgies, rape and being uncharitable and abusive to strangers not homosexual sex. Loving sexual union is not a sin and it is incorrect to use the term sodomite to refer to a gay person.

Forty years in moral decline
CONCERNING the homily at Mass in these times, it may be helpful to read the following extract from the monk Dom Chautard’s The Soul of the Apostolate: “An apostle who is accustomed to the interior life based on Our Lord’s words ‘Let him deny himself’ will be fully capable of producing in others the self-denial that is the foundation of all moral perfection. But one who only lags behind Our Lord in carrying The Cross will be incapable of such a result. Since he himself is such a coward when it comes to imitating Christ crucified, how will he ever preach to his people the holy war against the passions — the war in which Our Lord sounded the rallying call for us all? ”Only an apostle who is disinterested, humble and chaste can lead souls on into battle against the ever-growing forces of greed, ambition and impurity.” At the beginning of this century Our Lady appeared at Fatima asking Catholics to say the Rosary as the best way to develop the interior life in these days and thereby save their souls from hell. Men who say the Rosary regularly will never be overcome by depression. Women and girls who say the Rosary every day will learn that true beauty involves wearing feminine attire and covering the body from the neck to below the knees. They will not try to imitate the ways of men and be obsessed with challenging them for an artificial equality. They will stand firm against the Anti-Christ forces in all aspects of the media. They will reject those politicians who make laws against the law of God. A false version of Christ has been put about for nigh-on 40 years, with a lopsided message implying that all will be saved. Preaching on sin and the need for Confession has been, in general, obscured and played down.

Hell is awaiting users of the ‘pill’
RTE gave one of its ‘values free’ newscasts recently, with Brian O’Connell reporting from London on new research on the effects of the contraceptive pill on millions of British women ten years after cessation of its use. It was supposed to reassure them.
Any woman who uses artificial contraception of any kind interrupts the transmission of human life.
For anybody this is a serious mortal sin. It also has frightful effects on the people who do it, cutting them off from the grace of God and destroying their natures in selfishness and vice.
For a Catholic to use artificial contraception within marriage is putting that marriage at serious risk. Hell is a big place and is well able to contain millions. For a Catholic to use artificial contraception and to go unconfessed to receive Holy Communion is to ‘drink damnation to him/herself’. It is because priests are not saying these things that I have to write this letter.
Those in education who permit people teaching ‘safe sex’ into classrooms will be judged by God with a millstone round their necks into the depths of Hell.

There is a humorous illustrated coffee-table book of 419 scams (aka the Nigerian Prince scam); someone should do an illustrated book of this guy’s letters:
As a lay Catholic, I have several issues with RTÉ’s programmes on the occult.
The contacting of spirits from the dead was condemned as mortally sinful by a decree of the Holy Office issued on June 25, 1840. All attempts to contact the dead, or spirits, and participation in seances, using mediums, boards, tables, or wireless devices, are forbidden by Catholic teaching under pain of mortal sin.
The facts around contacts with spirits or the dead are as follows:
All the spirits contacted in these ways are from the host of fallen angels who forfeited eternal life; with their fall, they became demons or fiends.
It is not possible to contact a dead person by occult means, because such people are either in heaven or hell, and are not contactable. However, evil spirits can stand in for human beings and pretend to be relatives or friends, etc.
The English author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was a widely recognised medium, abandoned the practice when he discovered that the contacted spirits were incapable of ever telling the truth.
