Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and chief executive of Facebook, announced on Tuesday that he and his wife would give 99 percent of their Facebook shares “during our lives” —holdings currently worth $45 billion — to charitable purposes.

    He can start by paying back the ad revenue his company steals from artists on Youtube (when people copy video and upload to facebook), when reported as piracy all they do is remove it, instead of sharing out the substantial profit made.

      So let me see if I have this correct
      A person puts music on Facebook. A complaint is made and Facebook respond by taking said post down but now you want Facebook to pay for the music that was put on their site?
      I’d love to hear more give me a shout when you return to planet earth.

            …because the scoundrel isn’t the one making big dollars from the post, it’s Facebook, and the creator of the stolen work should get their share of that profit.

          I’m with ya scundered, but they aremaking efforts to correct it. Hell, youtube is as guilty as facebook in all fairness.

          Youtube brought in the ad revenue sharing only a few years ago. They used to keep it all which is what you complain about Facebook doing.
          I’m sure I heard Facebook will be doing what youtube did, and do revenue sharing too.

            Yeah, at least Youtube have a system where if you upload a video with copyrighted music it will automatically recognise it and block you making any money from it, and the money goes to the copyright holder who may instead ask for the video to be removed.

            Facebook seem to have no process of checking if the video/music is copyrighted, they just make money from it until someone else goes through the horrendous process of reporting it, and they don’t share the profits, very bad form. And currently no punishment for thieves.

            In fairness, FBs video is still far less developed as they only fully rolled out their video (& video ads) to all users recently. It is fairly normal online to roll stuff out and test before all the consequences are looked into….. my tuppence, but I hear ya

    A younger bill&melinda, those couples along with Warren Buffet are giving their fortunes away. As it stands it’s something like $150,000,000,00 combined wealth. Think what that mobey could do now instead of drip feeding it over a life time. But no one has to give it away so far play to all of them.
