YESSSSSS!

He has none.

From top: Leo DiCaprio winning best actor Oscar after five previous nominations; Nelson Mandela on his release from prison after 27 years; Andy Murray wins Britain’s first Wimbledon in 77 years; A Chilean miner freed after 69 days underground; Labour’s Alan Kelly after winning the final General Election seat in the Tipperary constituency on Saturday night.

And it took him how many tries to win? Hardly snorting coke of a hooker’s boobs and quaffing champagne…

      1. Wayne.F

Was kelly? Fairly traditional election victory. The point is BS are manipulating pictures and images to create a nothing story, something they would be slamming the indo or any other rag for doing.

        1. Dόn 'The Unstoppable Force' Pídgéόní

Is it traditional for politicians to act like that? Not sure I’ve ever seen it before

          1. Dόn 'The Unstoppable Force' Pídgéόní

Pretty sure I haven’t. I’ve generally seen supporters go nuts, elected smiles graciously and nods appreciatively.

            Are you taking the pee?

The shoulder hoist is a time honored part of the election win arsenal.

            Wayne is absolutely spot on.

          3. Anne

That teeth gritting and punching of the arms into the air definitely isn’t normal or dignified.
I’ve only seen egomanical soccer players carry on like that after scoring a goal.

          4. Dόn 'The Unstoppable Force' Pídgéόní

@rotide maybe for losers (who win) it is. Bit odd for elected officials no?

Ok. I’ve done some research (google image search). Seems this is an Irish thing.

        2. dylad

The traditional dry humping shoulder lift. It’s disgusting, plus Kelly seems like an obnoxious poo.

        3. 3stella

Getting elected as fourth choice and by not reaching the quota deserves some humility. Something Kelly lacks.

          1. Bonkers

Exactly, only two weeks ago he said power is a drug and that it suits him. His reaction to coming in 4th place confirms how much he would have missed his fix

      1. Wait For It

Nearly right now! Only five previous nominations though, ‘The Revenant’ was his sixth.

  1. Joe cool

I think kelly shot himself in the foot with that little celebration. The party won’t have that. Right now labour need to be humble and play it right. Kelly is neither

  2. Benz

Those aren’t the Chilean Miners. I know this because one of them is Antonio Banderas. So that kinda rules that out then.

    See “The 33” for details…

“Wtf are the people of Tipp at?”

Ok, what’s the population of Tipp? How many votes did the little power hungry pipsqueak get?

It’s like blaming America for Donald Trump or all of Limerick for Willie O’Dea or baldy.

It really doesn’t take that many votes for some of these goons to get elected, then you have the transfers and all those shenanigans.

If they have a big extended family, they’re probably guaranteed a place on the gravy train.

    Good Grief.

Can we now see shots of every TD elected to the 32nd Dáil at the moment of their election so that we can decide, based on a single moment, which do and which do not have dignity?

    1. MoyestWithExcitement

If you can find any other examples of someone who told a national newspaper that power is a drug which suits him, reacting like he’d just scored the winning goal in a world cup final scraping the final seat in his constituency, please share them.

      1. ReproBertie

I don’t have photos. That’s why I asked for them to be provided so that we can judge the dignity of all the freshly elected TDs. No doubt the yahooing that could be heard on the radio as elections of all hues were announced was all actually fierce dignified and the Sinn Féin tricolour waving was to do with them preparing for Euro 2016.

        1. Clampers Outside!

…it’s his quote about ‘power’ and how he said it ‘suits’ him.

If it suited him, it is assumed, then he’d be more dignified in winning. Clearly, he got a rush to the head and lost his dignity when he got his ‘power’ back. Simples.

No need to read anything else into it.

        2. MoyestWithExcitement

Like Clampers said, it’s his power quote which sets him apart mainly but his reaction is different from what I can see as well. There is anger in his face that I’ve not seen in other candidates faces when they’ve won.

        3. meadowlark

For me, he has cultivated this public persona, whether deliberate or not, of an arrogant, power-hungry fool. His behaviour simply matches up with his carry on in the months coming up to the election. He received a good deal more media coverage than the average candidate, and it is hardly surprising that the media would report a reaction that simply ties in with the persona presented. Coz the public loves to hate Alan Kelly.

        4. Nice Jung Man

That’s right. If no other TD raucously celebrated his victory that proves that Alan has dignity.

    1. Nice Jung Man

She didn’t even get to first base

Where is her column this week with the usual flatulent waffle?

    1. Caroline

Is that his ma telling him to stop the praying?

      lol

I don’t think it’s that bad, and I think he’s an awful donkey. It was the last seat, it was obviously a huge relief… so if you ever need to picture Alan Kelly’s face enjoying release after a massive build-up of tension, that’s the start of your collection right there.

        1. Nice Jung Man

Putting those two posts together I’m surmising Alan is hung like a donkey, right girls?

          1. Caroline

You’re not one of the girls, and you haven’t put into the kitty for that white wine either. And that’s your second glass ya hoor.

  4. ollie

Kelly’s celebrations were confirmation of the fact that he is an idiot.
Maybe he was thinking about the big pay out he’s planning for his brother.

  5. ollie

We shouldn’t be too harsh on Kelly. After all, how would you celebrate a €500,000 payout?

And then there’s the extra pension he’ll pick up as a minister:
35% of his salary for 5 years in the job increasing to 60% if he manages another 5 years.
That’s a €60,000 annual pension for 10 years work. That’s disgusting. There’s no austerity inside the gates of Leinster House.

    1. Clampers Outside!

Take a look at Ivan Yates’ pension.

Retired at 50 on full pension over €70,000… then had the temerity to play the bael bocht, complaining of having “only” about 3,000 a month to live off… he’d have more than that from 70k.

  6. Maria

He looks like he is having a dump after being constipated for a long time. He, imo, is a horrible person. If I lived in Tipperary Id demand a recount

  7. dav

hope kelly gets the leadership, he’ll lead them further into the right wing abyss that they have stumbled into

  8. pissedasanewt

If somebody came to my desk and said you’ve got a month to win a popularity contest otherwise your fired, oh and by the way, most of the people hate what you stand for.. i’d be pretty happy to keep my job.

  9. rafterysean

Beats singing Wolf Tones songs in the count centre. They haven’t gone away they’re just getting started.

  10. Nigel

Anyone remember Howard Dean? Not saying Kelly’s a Howard Dean, but that was stupid and so is this. You’re all projecting, for feck’s sake.
