This afternoon.
Multi-party TDs, including a brolly-carrying Gerry Adams (centre) and Senators join the daily vigil by Amnesty International calling for a repeal of the Eighth Amendment, the constitutional ban on abortion.

Unrepentant charlatan liar with blood on his hands supports your campaign?
Hardly worth publicising
True. Though growing cross-party support is great.
*something something where the bodies are buried something something*
AND WE LAUGHED!
In fairness that could be anyone in the Dail.
With respect, Gerry Adams was never in that vigil.
So anyone taking bets on the party that will join them tomorrow for picture time.
The more the merrier on this issue !
Indeed, I’ve volunteered for the Sunday session.
I regularly volunteer for Sunday sessions
I bet you do.
Woof!
That’s the spirit Clamps
I’ll have ya buying rounds in the Felons by Christmas
This is just the type of thing you needed to do on april 1st.
Have this picture with a pro-life headline and watch all the comments say “look its all men and women past child bearing age telling us what to do with our wombs”
Mar Ref and Repeal the 8th while both very important and worthy pieces of legislation are really more personal choice issues.
They are sometimes used as handy a distraction from poverty and economic inequality among. They feed the need for social change while homeless people are still dying on the streets.
They are important but they’re not as important as planned social apartheid.
Some would argue abortion rights are heavily linked to poverty prevention and economic equality
Indeed, Ireland’s current abortion regime is in many ways class warfare in action, as rich and upper middle class people have better access to the (highly regulated) sources of information on how to travel, and of course can more easily afford to travel. if you’re poor or a refugee or otherwise restricted from traveling there’s no recourse.
Which, interestingly, gives a survival advantage to children of the less well off.
I disagree.
It promotes stress and abandonment and “backstreet abortions”.
The Belfast telegraph has an interview with the NI woman’s flatmates. They sound even more awful than before. Awful awful awful.
Obviously the harlot needed to be punished because she wanted an abortion, then had an abortion and then had the temerity not to be distraught about it. I mean, how very dare she? Baby murderers are supposed to suffer from guilt and remorse and get breast cancer for it, not be relieved. /sarcasm
The housemates really came across as dyed in the wool Precious Lifers, or of that ilk anyway. Offering to be guardian, emotional blackmail of one of the housemates allegedly having had a miscarriage (One gynecological incident among them was unfortunate, but two in the one house? Almost unbelievable!)
I hope the woman gets on with her life and has a good life with her child and partner and no longer has to suffer the company of black hearted housemates like that again.
How dare they report a crime that led to a human foetus in a rubbish bin. They should have just shrugged it off.
They certainly didn’t need to go rootng through the bin to find it did they? They make it sound like she left it lying around.
She made the wrong decision on their eyes and deserved to be punished because she wouldn’t do what they wanted her to, despite their faux concern. Oh we gave her options but she didn’t take the one we wanted! She didn’t react hire we would and we can’t understand why someone might act that way (self-protection anyone?) so shop her? Fupping ridiculous.
Not to mention there’s proven links between lack of access to abortion and depression and suicide in pregnant women, and that the vast majority of women who want an abortion make that choice quickly and feel relief as soon as the procedure is completed.
While reading the article, the other thing that struck me is how the arguments of the woman who had the abortion are filtered through her housemates’ story. Are the quotes accurate? Are they what she said the first time this was brought up, or were they the result of lengthy and prolonged discussions/arguments?
The whole thing is through their eyes, fair enough in an interview. But their judgement of her? Ooo boy
+1 Daisy. I couldnt believe their attitude. I’m sorry she miscarried but that doesn’t give her the right to force another woman to grow her a replacement!
Abortion needs legalising in this country pronto
End of!
Perhaps if SF tried to help Govern the country they could actually do something about it. They have the power to make a difference but refuse to do it. Cowards.
