Broadsheet Trailer Park: Rogue One – A Star Wars Story

at

Rogue One(1)

What you may need to know:

1. Gareth Edwards directs the first “in between” Star Wars anthology movie.

2. A group of rebels steal the plans to the Death Star while the builders are still snagging.

3. Altogether now: “It’s a small thermal exhaust port right below the main port.”

4. Many Bothans didn’t die to bring us this information. That was the second Death Star.

5. It is Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) in the trailer, though. And Ben Mendelsohn looking very Grand Moff Tarkin-ish.

6. Disney have done very well with the property so far. But I’m not digging any of the names in contention for the Phil Lord/Christopher Miller Han Solo movie.

7. Broadsheet prognosis: That’s no moon…

Release Date: December 16.

Meanwhile…

That’s a massive insult to all the women who worked on and starred in all the previous Films……

Apparently Rouge, yes, Rouge one was trending on Twitter in America last night. Got to admire the American education system.

As a good chunk of Irish people posting on de socil medias hunz r havin a prblm wi literacy, it’s not confined to the US, hunz.

      Unfortunately.

Last Star Wars, The Force Awakens, was utter tripe.

Why don’t they make movies of the books written directly (in the timeline) after the first 6 movies.
    They were entertaining books.

Only saw the new Star Wars recently. I was pleasantly surprised. It had its weaknesses but it was a good movie, and it sets the course for the next couple of movies. I’m hoping they can build on the Force Awakens and create a really good set of new Star Wars films.
      Not that Phantom Menace muck.

It was a really fun film even if it was a remake of ep 4 more or less. People who say it was terrible are just trying to be contrary

found force awakens depressingly similar to the first movies.almost a remake.same trick Abrahams pulled with star trek.boring

Guessing here, bu I think that might be the original Death Star and this might be set just before the original film.

        1. Clampers Outside!

It is, true :)…. they’re testing that same damn weapon again!

I’m still going to watch it, and likely enjoy it. No more trailers or hype to be read or watched from here on in.
I think that helped manage expectations for the last one :)

I avoided nearly every piece of media before the Phantom Menace. Look where that got me!

I employed no such tactics ahead of Awakens and loved it.

    Waaaaait a minute.

This IS the death star that many bothans died to bring us the information about. This is set between ep 123 and 456 is it not?

    Mark, clear this up.

I blame the Empire, going for the same type of Death Star was naïve ! those pesky rebels always find a way to destroy them.

Though that is Mon Mothma, the character who uttered the ‘many Bothans’ line in Jedi.

They recast with an actress who looks eerily like the original.

          1. Kieran NYC

The same (new) actress was cast in the same role in Revenge of the Sith but it got cut out.

            So now, so.

It’s also typical of Hollywood marginalising ethnic minorities. Not one bothan in the trailer, with all their parts going to humans.

This is about the group and mission that get the plans for the 1st Death Star. The plans ended up with Leia. When her ship was attacked she put the plans and a message “..help me Obi-Wan Kenobi you’re my only hope” in R2D2.

Many Bothans died getting the plans for the 2nd death star seen in Return of the Jedi.

    1. Kieran NYC

      Poor Manny.

Had a chance to be the first Latino in space and he got killed before the movie even started =[

  6. ReproBertie

The scrawl at the start of th eorignal Star Wars film reads (in part) :

“It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star an armoured space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.”

Rogue One is the tale of the battle and the rebel spies and I, for one, cm looking forward ot it and to seeing Vader demonstrate the power of the dark side.
