A Limerick A Day

A display of illegal dumping, Frankfort Cottages, Killarney Street, Dublin 1

The council have thrown a curve ball,
Putting litterbugs up on a wall,
Fifteen minutes of fame,
Brings attention and shame,
That the dirty ones don’t want at all.

I have slightly mixed feelings about this. I absolutely despise public dumping, but the poster’s just a little bit Orwellian (Or is there another dystopic writer that would be more appropriate? Whose dystopia was driven by public shaming?).

I know the obvious answer in this case is “eff them”, but the poster itself is such a grim object.

I hear ya but on balance I’m for it, nothing wrong with humiliating them and it may be effective (until they start wearing masks)

More of this EVERYWHERE! Shame the filth-mongering degenerates who deface our city (and countryside) Then Fine them. I’m fed up of sofas and other rubbish being dumped into every available Public space in certain parts of the city.

I can see that poster from my office window, I saw them putting it up on Friday.
There would be at least 5 bags of rubbish in the lane every day, for the last 12 years I have been here.
Much more on a Monday morning, a skip load at least.
Not one bag today. well done to dcc.

If you think there’s fly-tipping now, wait till they start *charging* for recycling, which they’re about to do.

Who’s “they” and can you point us to some information on their plan to charge for recycling?
