Damn. Will have to continue using South William Street and Drury Street to get around the back of horribly noisy Grafton Street.

I’m sorry Turgenev but you do realise you’re complaining about noise in a city centre, yeah?

One of these days I swear I’ll snap and feed that guy’s trumpet to him.

Or the one who plays Lux AEterna from the Requiem for a Dram soundtack.

I feel sorry for people working in shops and offices who end up listening to the same bad cover versions every day. Even the good ones get annoying after a couple of plays.

Address the problem by tackling something that is only a tiny part of the problem.
Well done Dublin City Council, you got out of having to make a difficult decision once again!

Seems fair. Backing tracks go against the whole spirit of the thing (why even play an instrument? Just stand there with boombox playing Simon & Garfunkel until someone gives you money)

Amplification is necessary to be heard on a busy street, but cranking it up in order to deafen passers-by into submission also goes against the spirit of the whole thing. I’m looking at you mister noisy slide-guitar man.

Still waiting for the day, when one of these street performers, decides, feck it, and enlists a backing group of singers and an orchestra to back them.
What be the rules on that.
    Grin and bear it.

Just ban them outright. Any other commercial activity on a public street outside of a small number of licensed traders. They are a terrible nuisance to people in the buildings nearby even if they mildly entertaining to people who pass by for a few minutes.

‘Me me me me me. I find this thing annoying so it should be banned.’

      1. LiamZero

If the recommendation to Dublin city councillors by DCC management was for a ban to be implemented, then it was clearly a big enough problem for enough people that they would call for such a ban.
Or, in other words, your comment is utter nonsense.

        1. MoyestWithExcitement

Grand, yeah. So everything that’s ever been banned must have been banned for good reason then.

          1. LiamZero

Have you got a reasoned response to anything or do you just drool out the first thing that pops into your simple mind?

          2. MoyestWithExcitement

Nah winding up simpletons such as yourself is fun enough. I mean, your argument there really is stupid. Like, hard to believe it came from a grown man, stupid. You can hardly blame me for having a go at you. You should post more.

          3. LiamZero

So you’re just a troll. A pretty poor one, but a troll nonetheless. Well, my bad for getting sucked in. I’ll know better next time I see your username. Hope this attempted and failed “winding up” has made you feel a little better about yourself though! x

          4. MoyestWithExcitement

Yes winding up you hilarious trolls really does feel good. Thanks for feeding me.

          5. LiamZero

Hahaha! Oh you’re trying so hard aren’t you? It’s actually compelling seeing someone doing this as badly as you are right now. But I really should look away now.

I, for one, am glad they didn’t ban anyone ‘creating’ the same pose of a dog in sand day after day after day…

Seriously, those fellas that take up the entire street with the dancing are the biggest problem buskers on grafton street! Why oh why is nothing being done about them?!

    1. Caroline

Do they have big willies? Asking for a friend (P. Dempsey. You wouldn’t know him, he comments on a different website)

    2. The Old Boy

I haven’t read the fine text of the the Corpo’s decision, but I imagine that the ban on backing tracks includes the taped music to which they dance.
