Is Martin King looking for a job on Blue Peter?

I have bad news for you Martin.
    – It takes a man of better skills than you possess to make an elephant dump on live television, or to train a dog called Shep to hump your leg every two minutes.

You’re playing in the wrong league.

The Coll and Hawe family in unimaginable distress have shown great courage and dignity. May ye find strength in each other in trying to come to terms with your loss in the future. God Bless ye all.

Hopefully any loss I may suffer will not come at the hands of a hateful and despicable Mass Murderer, who planned the brutal murder of his with and children. The children were stabbed and hacked to death, and given their ages it is highly unlikely that they weren’t aware of what was happening to their siblings before it happened to them.

It is also despicable that the media have placed the women, wife and mother in the shadows. And that this sick b*stard was allowed to be buried with his victims, This may be the decision of the family, but in such cases the common good should overall rule this. What message does this all send to other would be brutal child murderers? Everyone said what a great guy Ted Bundy was and how it was a surprise that he’d done anything wrong, no different to this piece of filth

I’m disgusted by the man and ashamed of the reaction of the media, the local community and surviving family members. This mans body should be rent to pieces, burnt and scatter on the ground with salt.

Mental illness and stress are no excuse for this type of misogynist and selfish crime. I only wish I could believe in hell for the sake of the wretched dreg of humanity.

      Jack. well said.
Classic Ireland. Toss out the mental illness escape defence. Very convenient. There is no proof what so ever that the man was mentally ill. What is certain is that he was a cowardly mass murderer, who wanted the ultimate control over his family and in the end succeeded.

I think murdering your entire family indicates that you are not in the greatest state of mental health.

  4. some old queen

Seriously, what right do you have to be disgusted at the reaction of the surviving family members?

They know way more about this awful event that either you or I or probably anyone else. The mail says they were united in grief. They have come together to support each other and I for one support any decision they have collectively made.

Please be aware that some of these people may be reading the comments in this site so temper your language accordingly. They really have enough to be dealing with without people ranting at them on the internet.

Well said, old queen. As you’ve pointed out before, people with mental illnesses are just jaded drama llamas looking for attention. Does this apply here too?

I think Brendan O’Connor’s piece was in relation to the debate after the Cavan killings is accurate and well measured.

Maybe we’re all a bit quick to argue these days, given how easy it is to do so online, of which I’m guilty. We could all maybe have a little more taste, thought, and decorum and maybe be a little less reactionary.

” We could all maybe have a little more taste, thought, and decorum and maybe be a little less reactionary.”

      That’s lovely Harold..

There’s always some lad around to inform women that it’s not the tasteful or appropriate time for discussion about issues of violence against women and the obscuring of that violence. I find that interesting.

      1. Harry Molloy

you can discuss that any time, the column is in relation to the specific incident, as was my comment

        1. The Real Jane

So is mine. It is shocking to me that you approve of of a column that says that women should have more taste than to highlight the fact that a woman was killed here too on the basis that murderers and children are obviously interesting whereas murdered women? Well, you know, sad obvs, but a bit boring and routine.

But now’s not the time to talk about it, so you know, shut up stupid women.

          1. Harry Molloy

I actually agree with you Jane, despite your aggression and casual accusations of misogyny.
The column is about letting the grieving grieve, busy their dead, and us assuming they have good reason to make the decisions they did.

          2. The Real Jane

Well, I think it’s about defending the slant taken by the independent last week, defending their news values and how they choose what to report, defining it as self evidently correct and applying social pressure to women who are saying that it’s not right. And letting women know that the lads who are in charge of taste in these matters are sure they’re correct and will not be changing their stance at any time.

          3. tipsy

Read Don Hennessey in the Examiner. You’ll get some insight into the mind of the callous murderer that this “loving” man was.

            @ Tipsy

I have and it doesn’t change one single thing.

What about all of those who rushed to make it a political abstraction? Where was their empathy? We think first of children. We ask how any sane person could do this. We wonder if there was any other rational explication.

            That is human nature.

I have been around since before the flood but never before have I seen such an issue which has been augured with so much baggage, so shoe horned into an agenda and with complete disregard for those left behind..

Rosanna Davison flogging another poxy book.

We get it. You’re a gluten-free vegan. Of COURSE you lost a stone. You live on kale, dust and smugness.

Are you suggesting the lovely Diane might in fact be a geezer?

(Reminds me of true and altogether sensational story about Aled Jones)
