This afternoon.

Outside Leinster House on the first day of the Dáil term after the summer break.

Gardaí at the gates of the Dáil.

And members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, SIPTU and the Psychiatric Nurses Association calling for “the restoration of incremental credit for nurses and midwives who graduated between 2011 and 2015”.

Those protesting included nurses Maria Phelan, Christine Gibbons and Eimear Byrne from Kilkenny Mental Health Services (above).

How is Liam Doran still head of the nurses union?

At what point does achieving absolutely nothing for your members year after year become a problem?

It’s glorious. Our leaders really think themselves our rulers. An apathetic populace helped them come to that belief. It’s beautiful to see people are getting motivated.

Yay, lots of strikes – nurses, doctors, gardaí, bank staff, hospital consultants, council staff, taxi drivers, etc. A proper winter that grinds the whole country to a stop. Definitely something to look forward to.

You mean the middle and working classes will have more money to spend in shops and generate more jobs? That’s actually a good thing.

that’s ok apart from bank staff, they should never get a pay rise, frozen until they can all be replaced by AI.

I think its a sign of a healthy recovery.
Up til now people were too afraid of losing jobs, now that people can see light at the end of the tunnel, they expect pay increase to match the sacrifices made over the past few years.

It is. But it’s also a sign that the price of homes has been allowed again to get way out of synch with wages, so that people despair of being able to pay a mortgage.

And people are paying extortionate rents who could pay a mortgage half the price only they cannae get one from the banks they’ll forever be poorer for supporting.

We’ve really learned from the mess we got ourselves into over propershee!

DOB makes money every time those barriers are erected by Eventserv which is part of the Siteserv group.
Ireland, a great little Country to do business in.
