It’s like a matrix of some kind
RTE interviewing RTE staff?
That’s their speciality, isn’t it?
Absolutely. All hail the DUP, you know it makes sense (to FG and Dobbo at least).
My enemy’s enemy has a point.
Like Strictly RTE
Indeed. Where do they think they are? On the Late Late Show any given Friday?
Don’t general reporters talk to specialist reporters for overviews and insights into breaking situations all the time? Normally done from a studio, rather than on the street maybe?
All. The. Time.
In literally EVER. NEWS. BROADCAST. EVER.
Let’s not let a little fact like that get in the way of the blind abuse of RTE though eh?
It’s such good fun though. And it’s not like they haven’t asked for it, just a bit.
The point being there was no need to send him up the north for it.
I suppose it gives that live effect.
It’s just a quick train-ride, you know.
The two of them probably rushed to catch that train together, in time for the six one news.
It’s only an hour up the road. What’s the big deal?
“Blind abuse of RTE”?? Have you listened to yourself? Might ‘mature reflection ‘ persuade you that you might have been a little OTT, Editor?!?
They weren’t on the street, they were on Tommie’s balcony overlooking Ormeau Avenue.
It was a man-above-the-street interview.
If I was a license payer I’d be furious. Next time the license inspector comes calling I might, just might, open the door to them.
It’s just run of the mill self-reflexive postmodern reporting.
So meta
No, they sent him up to anchor the bulletin from Belfast, which naturally enough involved conversing with the Northern Editor on air. I know the cynical Broadsheet readership will lambaste me for saying so, but I get so sick of the constant RTÉ-bashing that goes on these days. Yes RTÉ does more interviews with it’s own staff than just about any other broadcaster in the world, but this is literally just Dobbo doing his job.
Also, I know the Late Late Show can be piss poor at times, but RTÉ have better things to spend money on than paying celebrities to fly in for an interview with Tubs in Montrose. People who compare it to The Graham Norton Show are comparing apples and oranges. Graham gets the best guests because his show is recorded in central London and syndicated around the world, meaning that the celebs can hit every major market with just one TV appearance.

I like oranges.
The people got rid of Water Tax, their next target is the licience fee, that will soon
bring the outfit in Montrose to their senses.
……or you know mean ARRRTAYEAY show more ads to cover the lost revenue, one or t’udder
Literally every on-location news bulletin does this. Every one.
RTÉ Six One News article with Eileen Dunne
Cut to David Davin Power outside Leinster House.
Back to studio analysis with Martina Fitzgerald.
Repeat every day.
