Minister for Transport Shane Ross wants drivers to take a second test

That hard working Minister Ross
Has said that this morning he’ll toss
Off a new policy
To improve safety
And remind us all that he’s the boss.

8 folks per day caught driving without insurance. one lad in cork there last year was convicted 72 times previously for driving without insurance..!

As I’ve often mentioned before, I’m now in the Autumn of my life and have lived through three recessions, and the endless ‘Buggins turn’ of successive FF – FG Governments. I thought I’d met every disappointment I could possibly meet! Ladies and Gents – I give you Shane Ross – the man who promised so much, but is currently delivering rubbish. I must sadly conclude that not all ‘Independents’ are of a mind to (a) deliver on what they promise, (b) be forces for change and good, or (c) work to bring us the Republic we all want and need so much. Get out Ross, you are a disgrace.

Shane Ross had his chance to talk about something he allegedly knew something about Nama and the Banks. But he voted with the government on the issue clearly going against everything he stood for. He was on Newstalk that night and asked why he voted with the government on the issue he said to remain in government you must sometime vote against what you have stood for. He is one of the worst politicians I have ever seen. And he was a terrible stockbroker in fact he is rubbish at most things he has done in life. All you have to do is look back at his articles on Nama and the banks in the Indo and he had a chance to question why certain decisions were made but he took the silver instead.

Shane Ross is an empty dail seat he does noting for his constituency it was only when he realised how much people disliked him that he started pointless campaigns like this and his ban on mma. He is a joke we are campaigning for a school to be built in our area guess who was the only local politician who didn’t bother having any dealings with us. He is a joke.

Some would say that TDs focusing on constituency issues rather than national issues is among the biggest failings of Irish politics. I’m sure it’s annoying for some constituents but it’s quite correct that he won’t get involved in a campaign for a local school. And, in a way, it’s also admirable – it’s not doing his chances of being re-elected any good. He’s doing the right thing over the clever thing. Having said that, I think Ross is a cock.

Totally agree. You are both correct as it happens. I’ve had some dealings with him as well. On a personal level he is fine. But hypocrisy is his stock in trade in politics

More hollow chatter from No more mr Nice Guy. Any chance of giving him the boot. He gives me a headache.

          No I’m not Moyest.

While I can readily understand why you would have a deep hatred for that individual, both your opinion of and behaviour towards me is completely unwarranted. I don’t actually care one way or the other mind you but I suspect we probably have similar aims and objectives in all of this. Why don’t we work as a team going forward?

I’m sure you’re an ok person away from the phone. Come on – try a little harder. This can work.

          2. No more mr nice guy

Please. I’m pleading with you here to give this a chance. People need to see we gave it a shot.

Which username are you using now anonomnom? But yea I do have one of those things. Would you like to see it!

Agree. We can’t complain about FF style ‘he fixed the road’ carry on and then expect Ross to build the school. Rightly or wrongly, the cake is a certain size, and it’s divided out a certain way. Ross shoving his constituency up the list means others who may be entitled to a slice get less.

Obviously this high minded mallarky only works if all TDs knock this carry-on on the head.

        1. Brother Barnabas

One solution would be to give more power to local councillors – and let them deal with local issues and ban TDs from getting involved. Calibre of local councillors is a problem, though – few have the competence to do anything of consequence (not that our TDs do either, mind).

        2. Drogg

He is still my local representative. I am not saying he should be brown enveloping us planning permission but he is supposed to be representing my community to the minister for education something which he has failed to do, sure most days he fails to turn up to the dail as well. He is no more then a professional waffler.

Translation : The Government is not content with the revenue generated from motorists through NCT checks, VAT on Petrol, Levy on Car Insurance Premiums and revenue from Speed Checks etc so we’re going to invent another tax on motorists by pretending they’ll need to take a second driving test.

Once again Murtles, you’ve hit nail on the head.

It may sound cynical, but honestly, after the past 8-10 years, I think we’re all a bit more cynical these days.

    Sadly, you’re probably right.
    Ross is an empty can.

…I’ll believe in karma when Ross gets stopped speeding through Stepaside and tests positive for drink driving…an Irish Independent photographer will be on hand to record Lord Ross being handcuffed and led away…

      1. bisted

…were the garda nasty and silly when they handcuffed Clare Daly and arrested her for drink-driving and the press just happened to be there…

          1. bisted

…ok…but no shame as far as Shane Féin is concerned…in fact I hope he chokes on his own dyspepsia someday and wakes up on a trolley in A&E…

          2. No more mr nice guy

I’d just think it was a bit OTT to wish someone would go drink driving solely because you’d like to see them caught. What if they hit someone en route?

          3. bisted

…if only the government shared a scrap of your empathy…nice new shirt btw…I see some speculation about your previous manifestation…personally I thought it was Neil is a Git who disappeared shortly after drawing the attention of Frilly and Memes…

          4. No more mr nice guy

Wow. You’re quick with the personalised put downs. Not happy that your wish to see someone potentially commit manslaughter is being observed and questioned no?
