   Working premium shifts after a “sickie” is common practice in the public service. Example: staff working 12hr shifts alternate days – work Wednesday, day off Thursday, take sick day Friday, off Saturday, work Sunday (Premium pay) = nice little 3 day mini break & back for the premium pay. This is the norm in the PS.
