Last night.
The Copper Coast, Ballydowane Bay, County Waterford
Photographer Kieran Russel writes:
Very Last minute dash to Ballydowane yesterday evening for a passing lightning storm. Got a fairly good strike rate but as it was almost completely dark composing the images became very difficult.
Above and here are the best of what I got. This is the second time I’ve managed to capture a lightning storm on the Copper coast , see the first occasion here…

Jealous, like. May start storm hunting myself!
Can I add myself to the list? They’re stunning.
I’m guessing people are not expecting to pay for the digital file? Unless you know the photographer or something that is?
Woah
How do you capture a lightening strike? is a matter of taking hundreds of photos?
If the shutter is left open for a few seconds whilst camera is sitting steadily on a tripod. The lightening can strike at any stage during these few seconds. If an semi opaque filter is placed in front of the lens to then the shutter can remain open for minutes at a time.Looking at the water it does look like a long exposure as the water looks almost misty.
