That’s criminal damage. You would not be classed as ‘the better person’ by a judge in this scenario.
Also, generalise much? Can I say women drivers are boo boos (I’m not an audi driver btw)

      1. MoyestWithExcitement

Thank you, Boj. Audi drivers have been oppressed for far too long. We need heroes like you to start speaking up for them.

No, he was being sarcastic. Audi drivers can afford an audi so are therefore financially comfortable. For this reason alone, they deserve to have their car damaged.

Daisy. You’re classy. Obviously you have nothing much of material value or was it your upbringing.

My life is not defined by what I have, because that’s a terribly shallow way to live. I have lots of stuff and things, some of which I value greatly, but not because of what they cost. I have a car with a few dings and scratches and it still functions as a car and not an illegally parked penis extension.

false economy. Shell out a few extra quid and get yourself a decent one from a reputable supplier

I read that with the voice of the millanial stock footage guy
          LOL JK

Jay… zus. That is some god-awful load of self worth you’re spouting there.

You also largely contradict your self-promoting within this post, and again in your first post on this chain.

Nooooooo…..never, DC, never, no matter how annoyed you get. Dream up a sassy, flip-you notelet and put it under their wipers but please, don’t even think about doing damage.

I’ve seen a crowd called @ibikedublin here recently standing on the side of that lane so that car’s cannot park in it. They were there on Tuesday and again this morning, fair play to them. This is a mandatory cycle lane, no parking at any time.

There is a law enforcement vacuum in Dublin. The Gardai and the council keep pushing the issue on to each other. In the meantime, drivers use cycling lanes as free parking spots and cyclists pay the price with their safety.

    1. Rob_G

What I don’t understand is why they don’t just install those flexi-bollard things for the mandatory cycle lanes. Sure, it would entail a (small) initial outlay, but the would require almost zero enforcement once put in.

      1. manolo

The council is still in denial. “we used magic paint” an unnamed council officer said, “contractors may have made a mistake when applying it”

      2. Ciarán

Quite often the “mandatory” cycle lanes are time limited so parking is permitted at certain times of the day. There are other solutions which would make it safer but enforcement is certainly a big issue

    1. Co C.

Exactly. Or maybe they needed to pop into Centra for smokes. Are their hazard lights on? I think that makes it ok.

what you do as a cyclist is cycle around the stationary car. you can see the stationary car some distance ahead so look, signal & begin moving into the road safely with the flow of traffic rather than leave it until the last moment. Take a position in the middle of the traffic lane as it stops motorists trying to overtake both you and the stationary car.
it’s pretty simple. learn to cycle a bike properly. there will always be bad parking. cycle lanes or not.

Scrape the paint, hang the driver.
Why don’t you just read the signs, then you would know that it’s not a cycle land after 10:00am and cars can park perfectly legally.
Likewise, the cycle lane on Sir John rogerson’s Quay the Southside of Samuel Beckett Bridge is closed. Stop shouting at pedestrians!!

Jebus you spandex wearing road warriors are idiots.

    1. manolo

It is not a clearway from 10-12.30, but it is still a double yellow is a double yellow, 24/7. There are exceptions for commercial deliveries only.

I did. Its not a cycle lane between 10.00am and 12.30 am and then after 7pm.

Maybe take the time to read all the sign next time.

      1. Turgenev

        Including the double yellow lines?

The phone number for Dublin Street Parking is (01) 222 2261

Is it a coincidence that all my more conservative friends also happen to be a bit more sensitive than others and all seem to have a bizarre pathalogical hatred for cyclists?

    1. manolo

No, it isn’t a coincidence. Cyclists are subversive elements that threaten the hegemony of the motor car in the view of those dinosaurs. Welcome to the 21st century!

      1. MoyestWithExcitement

You mean you’re not my friend?!?!? Dear God, this is devastating news. You’re clearly such a happy and positive guy, I was hoping some of your social skills would rub off on me. I mean, everyone around here seems to love you and definitely don’t mercilessly laugh at you repeatedly. *sigh* I guess I’ll have to find someone else like you to look up to. Clamps seems like a decent substitute.

How are we with drawing a big shaving foam “no parking” symbol on the windows of cars blocking footpaths & cycles lanes? Can we all just sign up to that and get back to work please.
Does the mandatory wearing of beards these days preclude access to shaving foam?
