Can only be written by pen
But in time we’ll see
If President Xi
Will allow its use online again

I’ve learned a healthy skepticism through the years about this kind of “whacky Asian” story. Frequently turns out to be greatly exaggerated, if not wholly fabricated, playing on Orientalist perceptions.

I don’t know anything about this story in particular, but on a related note, I do remember reading about the “wacky North Koreans” stories that we all know and love — apparently many are purposely leaked by the N Korean government because it keeps the rest of us giggling about what nitwits they are instead of running stories on the actual horribleness going on in their country.
