The Irish tricolour turns 170 on March 17
It’s a hundred and seventy years old
And a marvelous thing to behold
So hoist it to great height
But please get it right
The third bar is orange, not gold.

I like the way they didn’t try put that on a blue sky
quite right too – optimism and happiness have no place in the irish psyche.
Goddam it, that flag still means something, even if it’s red* in the middle.
*Sorry, Bono, it’s white. Get yer eyes tested.
here’s what’s happening with the avatar thing? where’s my 8-bit chicken gone?
Yes.
Didn’t the previous post say it turned 170 today? whose in the wrong?
March 7th, not 17th.
exactly, so the above is incorrect
ugh nationalist much? I’m hoping for a day when all flags are done away with maybe just the EU flag, flags enforce the idea of nations and borders they should not be promoted.
Fair point.
Because there’s no border around the EU? Wait till Brexit.
