Drink local. You’ll see the difference in your pocket
And hop house 13 a pseudo craft beer mass produced and full of chemicals
By Diageo
Check out the reviews of this mass produced lager which is the harp lager of the 21st century
I believe its so artisan even the women that drink it grow beards
The latest is another Diageo lager using shots of the wild Atlantic way to flog their pint of piss
And that comes from a publican
WTF david? Leave Harp out of it. That Celebration Brew was the business.
Wasn’t that for the 1994 World Cup? They made it lighter and more bland in an attempt to compete with the suddenly and inexplicably popular American beers that were flooding the market.
It was indeed for the 94 world cup and it sold better than standard Harp so, as far as I know, they kept it.
I don’t remember it being particularly bland but it was a long time ago.
And guess what
As we thought harp was pretty crape
The English loved harp export
We moved to the UK and ran a couple of pubs over the years
For a nation that was so into their real ales the fact they thought harp export was the bees knees make’s you think
Our craft beers are really improving and some stunning
Nine white deer ales are stunning and their porter tastes like Guinness was years ago before Diageo started messing with it
As for our gins they are beyond beautiful
Bear a gin in particular has a hint of sea salt and mixed with these new tonic waters chilli ice cubes and cucumber added is some delicious it compliments the salty flavour
The funny thing is Harp was actually one of the most naturally brewed beers compared to others, and always done very well in taste tests. I’ve no idea if it’s still the same process nowadays.
No truer word, Diddy, as usual :-)
Drink less. You’ll see the difference in your wellbeing.
true true
but sure might be a moderate drink Sean does be having
some of us are capable :)
Yeah well if you ask for hop house 13 then you deserve to pay €7
The hipster tax.
The beards get me
it isn’t very nice is it
No.
And it isn’t very hipster.
If hipster is even a thing any more obviously, I’m old now and things keep changing. :)
Welcome to capitalism.
and anyway they don’t like when you try organise a big sing along at last orders in there
spoil sports ;)
I want a night out with you. I bet you’re responsible for a few lost nights?
anything I may say can and will be used in a court of law against me …:)
it’s bruxells after midnight, what did ya expect
I was buying for a friend, I swear.
I only drink gin you’ve never heard of with floral infused tonics. €13 minimum.
That’s a MUCH better use of your money.
I’d love one now, actually. I’m going to say a Tanqueray 10 with Fever Tree tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit. Copa glass, obvs.
I’m making myself depressed now, and not through drinking too much gin.
‘We don’t accept credit card.’ Seriously?
Cash sale business maybe? Revenue don’t like that type of business.
And you paid it all the same.
You went to the most expensive pub in Dublin and ordered a pint of Diageo. I’m surprised it was only 7 quid.
Heineken have their own ‘craft’ beer called Cute Hoor – had a pint of it somewhere a few years back and thought it was rather bland, then I read who made it. Watery and dull for a pale ale.
Then you have Rock Shore, another Diageo brew. Haven’t tasted it but most likely tastes like wee. I tried hop house once, never again. You want decent Irish craft beer, look no further than either Galway Bay (and their pubs, several around Dublin), The Porterhouse and their range of beers (and their pubs too), 8 degrees brewing, Boyne Valley, McGargles, the list is long enough. What these brewers have over the likes of Guinness etc is that they use a lot of hops and make very flavourful beer. Diageo and Guinness can fupp right off – they were content to sell us water wee for years after nearly wiping out independent brewing in Ireland, then they offer us hop house 13?
Stick it where the sun don’t shine.
The Kinnegar range is really good
from Donegal naturally
kinnegar range is great, especially their crossroads IPA
Cute hoor is made by Rising Sons brewery in Cork, not Heineken.
No, Cute Hoor is a Heineken beer
I was in Bruxelles on Saturday night/Sunday morning, I had a pint of hop house, then I had another and maybe one more. The music was great, I had a laugh, I went home happy. I like hop house and I don’t have a beard. On Saturday nights, my local usually hosts a mediocre ballad session and me Ma likes to sing along. She thinks the beer is too expensive, I must ask her to post a copy of one of the receipts on Broadsheet.
Bruxelles is a rip off, but its beer is cheaper on the rocker side downstairs then the other for some reason, ,I haven’t drank there in a while so may have changed, but I used to pop into the rocker side and get my drinks and then go back to my friends in the other bar, its quicker to get served too
Cute hoor. I never noticed the price difference.
If you paid that for hop house then you deserve to be robbed.
