The bishops have a lot to answer for alright.

The report on the front of the Irish Examiner makes it apparent that they’ve failed so badly at teaching the faith that a large share of Catholics no longer understand the very basics of the faith, or even what the church is for.

Most of us don’t understand what the faith is for, yes!

And definitely bonne chance to the mighty Malian – the way he just strolls up the building with casual grace, hops over the balcony and scoops up the little child while everyone else is screaming and beeping. He should represent France in the Olympics parcour event. May he never want!

Or some bishops are just living in the past and think that taking swipes with a crozier is an appropriate response to a referendum result of that magnitude?

Teaching their version of ‘the faith’. Which isn’t working because it’s wrong, mean, selfish and totally unchristian..

      Is that true?

The no vote was around 33%. The last survey in 2017 said that those who “regularly” attend Mass is 36% for the country. It’s not a million miles off.

It’s entirely possible that all those who regularly attend mass voted no or didn’t vote.

The one certainty about religions is that they really don’t like competition, which somewhat explains so many wars. They will bump their figures by any means necessary because numbers count.

Whatever about their accountability, I reckon the reason why is that for those of born mid/late-70s and later didn’t have their religion and catechism beaten into them. For those of us who did, well…. we still remember it alright.

Who here remembers the first time they were physically assaulted by clergy as a child?! Was 1979 for me. Aged 7. Cracked rib. That’s what I got for being a Dub in a country school and didn’t know the Irish for Jesus. A proper twofer that one. Happily for me and my schoolmates, my father and brother in law hospitalised said member of clergy. We moved back to Dublin shortly after.

I don’t normally condone vigilante ‘justice’. But in this case -good on your dad and brother-in-law!

      Ah look
      The Bishops cribbing and whinging
      Like Nordie football men
      Always blaming the other side

Shur’ why are they picking on Yes voters
As if Any of the Yes crowd give ah’ rhymes with kite

Less than 30 % of the electorate go to Mass anyway
Even less than the No Vote
So why all the drama about Sinning
      Like it’s a bad thing

I’m always up for a bitta sinning

Superman in Paris would have been terribly injured had he fallen. Fearless. Bon chance, young man!

La France En Marche as President Macron rewards a brave young migrant ‘sans papiers’ with a medaille, a promise of fast-track citizenship and help to start a career as a fire fighter. Now what is the President going to do about all this ‘la greve’ bother?
