Another HUUUUUUUUGE attendence! This really doesn’t bode well for the weekend. (Hee)

Hopefully the turnout for all these events will be this poor, although presumably frank will get a bigger crowd…maybe.

      yeah, spotted that. really odd.
      Messy fuppers

You’d think their god would teach them not to be litter bugs

they think this life is only a temporary waiting station before the eternal life (and possibly that the end times are nigh) so it’s not worth saving the planet.

Not very many young people at that event, good to see the church dieing off from old age.
Another 20-30 years and Ireland will likely be like the Netherlands when it comes to the Catholic church….they’ll be at least half the amount of Catholics.

Based on the church’s own numbers they had 40.5% of the population as Catholics back in 1970, now they have less then 22%.

Ireland will be below 50% in 2- years I’d say.

Now we have 78%, we were about 90% in 1970, church attendence is below 30%.

There’s clearly no mass being celebrated there (as suggested in the caption). Its a talk maybe.

Broadsheet is not liturgically literate. Or cant read a conference programme. BS needs a religious affairs correspondent, given its interest in church events.

I would like to offer my services. Ill be BS’s man in Rome.

A good (ish) crowd…..not a great crowd. But leaving aside the ..er Roman salute with the right hand, note the clenched fist of the left

Pardon me for not be familiar with famous clergy – but the third pic – the prominent guy in a dog-collar, I thought it was Graham Norton reprising his role as Father Noel Furlong, at first glance – turns out it’s Bishop Doran – he probably gets that a lot?
    Also, Come on Tyrone!

It’s quite disturbing that BS goes to such lengths to publish anything church related. I have no interest in the church but many on here have a disturbing negative obsession with anything to do with the Catholic church … I would suggest that the majority of BS readers are totally narrow minded bigots

    1. Clampers Outside!

I agree with your “negative obsession” observation. Some comment warranted but yeah, some on here are rabid with hate for the RCC…

And yet they’ll welcome other even more backward ideologies with open arms like buffoons. And call ya a racist for pointing it out…. :/ the muppets

I would suggest that might be due to all the child-raping and woman-hating that the Church was so fond of.

I’ve seen more nuns this week than in the previous, erm, 25 years!

I’ve even seen *young* nuns (probably in their late 20s/early 30s) this morning. I’ve *never* seen young nuns before.

I had thought the whole thing would die out with the aul ones.. but it looks like there is life in the old church lest.
