A Limerick A Day

It still seems a little unclear
Why you’d run for the Áras this year
Unless starved for attention
Or seeking a pension
As Higgins has little to fear

Here’s the bit that I don’t get… If this Duffy lad is suppose to be some millionaire entrepreneur Dragon’s Den type swank, why on earth would he need to remortgage is gaff to fund his campaign?! Right out of the blocks he’s some bullpoo artist.

I thought that too. And the incredible flexibility and support of his mortgage provider in funding such a high risk move.

        A 58 year old man getting a 750k mortgage?
He bought the house in 1998, looke like equity release and not a mortgage.
        Trying not to sound rich!

Depending on the lender he has no more that 12 years to pay off 750k! That’s utterly irresponsible – from both parties. But still. Is he broke?! ‘Millionaire entrepreneur’ needs 750k mortgage to finance campaign??!!

You’d want to be a bit simple to buy into the whole Dragon’s Den nonsense. It exists only as a self promotion and vanity exercise for gombeens and wide boys. It helps to construct a narrative which the likes of the Sindo are only too willing to serve up for the clueless.

Job done, given that a third ‘Dragon’ is considering a run for the Presidency.

    Thin gruel indeed
