Brexit is going worse than anyone expected. I am amazed at how the Brexiteers keep repeating that Project Fear has been proved wrong, yet their country is in disarray. They say a no deal Brexit is what people voted for, when it was never on the ballot paper. They say that all 17.4 million voted for the same thing, when it is clear that there are so many different forms of Brexit.
I recommend the latest Sam Harris podcast, if you want to hear a discussion about how the major social media organisations have contributed to the situation.

Surprised this morning to Google “London riots” after the Brexit political betrayal yesterday and this is the height of the disorder.
“The Metropolitan Police said five arrests had been made at the demonstrations – although that included one man who was wanted in connection with an offence elsewhere. Two other people were arrested on suspicion of assault, another on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and someone else on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.”
At present the detonation cord seems to consist of Tommy Robinson of the EDL and Nigel Farage and his former UKIP, I don’t think alone they’re enough to ignite the vast explosive anger. But are the 17m majority who voted for Brexit just going to accept the frustration of their wishes?
SOQ
But as Formerly known has pointed out above, there are many different forms of Brexit but they can’t even agree on that. If they could, there would be no issue.
Also, if or when the referendum is re run, all polls indicate a majority in favour of remain now so what about their wishes?
bisted
…all polls indicated a majority for remain before the referendum…they were all wrong then…maybe they’re all wrong now…the only certainty is that a majority voted to leave in a democratic election…and now they have been betrayed…
ReproBertie
How have they been betrayed? There was no leave date on the ballot paper.
bisted
…the leave date is determined by Art50 of the Lisbon Treaty…in line with the democratically expressed wish, the leader of elected government of UK invoked the article at the earliest opportunity…she stated clearly that brexit would take place on 29 march…yesterday. She stated that brexit would be by mutual negotiation but if this proved not to be possible then brexit would happen on 29 march with no deal…hasn’t happened…Albions perfidy visited on it’s own people…
SOQ
We were also told that an extension was not possible and that it could not be revoked. Both of these lies now exposed, among with many others of course.
bisted
…ok…failed seems like a good word…the majority who democratically voted to leave the EU have been failed by the the representatives they democratically elected…opinion polls have been unanimously wrong in representing opinion…
Nigel
Arguably the success of the leave campaign already represented a massive political failure so I wouldn’t spare much sympathy for the Brexiterrs who had this great idea and fecked it up beyond all belief.
ivan
The people who voted for Brexit were, in part, largely failed by the people who told them that Brexit would be painless, and a walk in the park.
Nigel
‘Lied to,’ at any rate.
I post things vaguely related to the image/subject
Yes if you have changed your mind you are betraying yourself it appears.
millie st murderlark
But if you’re a nation, and a government, who haven’t a coherent idea of what they actually want, then no, it’s not a betrayal. I’d call it failure.
Nigel
It was a non-binding referendum but it’s being treated with the binding fanatical blood-oath solemnity of a suicide pact.

…ok…failed seems like a good word…the majority who democratically voted to leave the EU have been failed by the the representatives they democratically elected…opinion polls have been unanimously wrong in representing opinion…

Yes polls got it wrong on both Brexit and Trump- mainly because of all the social media profiling and targeted propaganda which occurred. One would hope that the authorities have a grip on that this time around. Arron Banks and leave.eu is likely to face criminal charges after all.
If the Tories felt that putting to to the people would strengthen their case, they certainly would done so by now. I wonder if those who claim democracy is something fixed in time will be its champion if the people vote to remain?

Where’s the PwC report on the scandalous cost overrun at the National Childrens Hospital?
GiggidyGoo
It needs more time in the oven to make it presentable

As Richard Boyd Barrett said when the govt tried to kick the scandal into to the long grass of a PwC inquiry
“As the Taoiseach is aware, PwC worked for BAM, the main contractor, at the centre of this issue. It has received up to €34 million in fees for auditing BAM. That is a serious conflict of interest. I do not see how one can seriously expect us to believe that PwC is capable of being independent when it has that long history of a close relationship with the main contractor, BAM. “

Badly written story based on good research in the Times Ireland today, distils down to
“Under European guidelines the state should have 472 bed spaces available [for victims of domestic abuse] but only has 141..The most recent figures show that 16 women and children were turned away from refuges in 2015 because of a lack of capacity. Tusla has still not published data on the number of victims who were refused by state-funded refuges in the years since.”
Tusla is acting the maggot. Minister Katherine Zappone is responsible for Tusla. The State is failing victims of domestic abuse, FG can afford to give loss-making RTE extra, IMO, illegal state aid of €7 million a year plus Josepha Madigan can bail out the RTE orchestras to the tune of €4 million a year, but we can’t meet the basic needs of domestic violence victims.

Zappone embarrassed? Embarrassment went out the window for her when she found a new, more profitable, route to Dáil Éireann for her mileage allowance.

Great story about the measles outbreak in New York.
“New York, Erica Wingate was working at a clothing store in town this week when a male customer, with the black hat and sidelocks typically worn by ultra-Orthodox Jews, started coughing.
Another shopper standing next to him suddenly dropped the item she had been holding and clutched her child. “She was buying something, and she just threw it down,” Ms. Wingate recalled. “She said, ‘Let’s go, let’s go! Jews don’t have shots!’””
Oh they do that all the time-it’s Rockland County which is north the city, lots Irish:)
Great profile on Brenda Breathnach, the owner of 3 Dollar Bill, who began her night life career as a bartender in Ireland.
‘It was 2 a.m. at a onetime brewery in Brooklyn, and Shangela, a multiseason star from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” swirled and strutted in a glittery red gown, lip-syncing to “Toy,” the bubbly Eurovision winner by Netta.
As she executed a flawless death drop, a deafening roar rose from the crowd of 400, a mix of gender-nonconforming Brooklyn club kids and muscular men in tank tops, leather harnesses and tight jeans, who recorded her every move with their phones.’
If there’s a long extension, I wonder what will be Michéal Martin’s excuse to extend the confidence and supply arrangement. Brexit was his out up to now.
Elections and summer holidays will take them to October.

There will be a long extension and then an Irish election. Michéal Martin is an absolute liability so the FG (veneered) teeth ‘n tits brigade will be returned.
