Squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you don’t vote you have no right to complain about the outcome.

My attitude is that every person who doesn’t vote makes my vote a little more important.

That said, we need to teach kids how to vote and why its so important. All that time wasted in school “learning” religion should be given over to what a citizen needs to know.

You’re in big trouble if you’re relying on the education system to educate your children in politics and voting.

An average 60%-ish of the current adult voters automatically keep voting against their own self interests and the interests of the population as a whole.

Who is going to educate them?

Also, apparently the highest recorded number of spoiled votes too…

Methinks something strange, unusual and malevolent is brewing underneath all this…

        Ahh Bodger, really?

        Frances Fitzgerald elected…..

        Barry Andrews even a candidate….

Varadker(Undemocratically elected and incompetant) and Martin and the croney bunch of middle managers for global privatised financial interests…

Peter Casey achieving more than -42% (MINUS)

Sure, there’s no malevolence on the side of the voters….
        – Just totally one sided on behalf of the government and everone is content.

Do you mean the ‘spoiled-vote’ voters or the ‘no-show’ non-voters, technically the spoiled voters did vote. It’s the non-voters that didn’t even show up that I am even more worried about being malevolent than the spoilers..

I would think that they are the most disillusioned and probably the ones, however small in minority that are needed the most for balance against all the coercion and manipulation etc. that leads to 60%-ish eejits maintaining the status quo.

Voting is corrupt but it’s our only feasable working mechanism for mass participation against a full spectrum of oppressive ideology, policy and actions. You’re betraying everone and helping your percieved worst antogonist if you don’t even take part.

BTW: Why am I still on the naughty list. for months now? – I only use language from the dictionary and try to soften the more offensive words for sensitive eyes with symbols etc most of the time? Cheers.

        This

        Recent rulings
        Especially regarding preferences
ie starting out on one ballot say EU with your 1 to 15 and continuing on down on the LE ballot 16 17 etc
        Or vice versa
Has now automatically voided the ballot that doesn’t start with a no. 1

Are you any relation to the holy stone of Clonrickard?

Maybe it was safer that more than half the electorate did not vote as those who are in
now, could have been knocked out by those did not get in, little wonder there is not a
    compulsory requirement to vote
