Couldn’t they just have made a new spy series, focused on her? It could be in the same cinematic universe, Marvel style. Let it sink or swim on its on merits, and let the James Bond series continue as, well, James Bond.

I do not see a problem here. The ’00’ system always said it was the code, and they changed as needed – most often in the case of poor old 009. So the 007 code is passed on, so what?
What is more interesting is whether this kills the ‘James Bond’ as a code name conspiracy, or adds to it. If it adds, then what would the new code be?
The names Bond, Jaime Bond!
I believe he retires/resigns/gets sacked from the service. Something like that. So the 007 designation shifts to another agent. In this case Ms. Lynch. James Bond will most likely still be a white middle aged male but who knows. S’all makeyup so t’is.

Meh, James Bond has lost its way and all the recent ones just meld into one long sexless car chase usually involving a product placed car. I think Lashana is to James Bond what Richie Oakley is to the Sunday Business Post.

The last Bond I enjoyed was Jason Bourne.
Not really a fan of Bond (film, loved the books) but anything beats Daniel Craig, quite possibly one of the worst actors I’ve seen.
Timothy Dalton was the real James Bond portrayal wise in my opinion and closest to Fleming’s character.
