A painting (above) attributed to Cimabue (1240 – 1302) and recently discovered hanging in a French kitchen may not be all that it seems

It’s wonderful when your eyeball
Spots a piece of artwork on a wall
And maybe it’s true
A long lost Cimabue!
Just don’t check too closely at all

Is that long stripey thing on the right a beach umbrella? Wonder if Cimbaue spent his summer holidays by the seaside.
