Latest GFS charts rolling out show #Lorenzo taking a quicker turn East over Ireland with severe gusts on West coast. Just one possible outcome though as it is far from clear yet where exactly it will end up. More updates later. pic.twitter.com/ppbs5ruToz

Data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts in England? Seriously, shut down Met Eireann today, save ourselves €25 mill a year.
I take it you don’t understand the sharing of information across international borders or economies of scale when it comes to Met information?
Or if you discovered that Met Eireann had a dedicated hurricane team you won’t be grumbling about costs etc..?
Don’t bother dav, met eirean are actually a part of the ECMWF, he/she knows this, just another dreadful post trying to stoke up replies.
I think Dav understands how this is being tracked by satellite and Ireland doesn’t have any dogs in that race, and Dav understands that’s why we get our forecasts on BS from France and the USA. Dav might query the finances of Met Eireann but Dav will be frustrated to learn it doesn’t produce accounts as it’s just part of a government department (the galoot from Ranelagh’s).
Google ECMWF and read the about us section and please spare us your nonsensical drivel. Ireland was a founder member of both the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the European Meteorological Satellite Organisation (EUMETSAT). This was in the 50’s.
You do realise it makes more sense to collaborate with other countries in the forecasting of weather, right?
AFAIR, eoin thinks that Met Éireann are in league with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce (something about under-reporting incidences of bad weather so as not to affect business), so I think you should take his pronouncements on the weather with a pinch of salt…
@Rob, i sincerely hope eoin is just someone at BS having a laugh, else I fell sorry for the poor auld kraytur

“L” is the low pressure, the close together lines around it will be where we will get the strongest winds rushing in.
But it’s like trying to predict the exact location of swirls in a river- these are the best models we can produce.
@Carlow Weather – I appreciated your excellent diagnostics and forecasting earlier on the wireless about Lorenzo EXCEPT you constantly reverted from miles to km and also measured wave heights in feet.
We’re a metric country lads.
About to be battered by storms to the west and hot air to the east, but still metric nonetheless.
Bury me 1.829metres under, eh?
Careful Dav, he might just put his 30.48cm up yer hole
I have to say that it looks like it won’t effect Dublin so that means it won’t be reported on as much
