The government is to introduce a levy of up to 25 cent on a disposable coffee cup
When you’re buying a fresh morning Joe
Do you take your coffee to-go?
Then you’ll soon face a levy
Which won’t be too heavy

That’s great for homeless people scraping enough change together for a hot drink
The government in its charity is to issue two free reusable cups to all rough sleepers on the streets of the state – one for holding donations of coins by passersby and the other for coffee and tea during a long hard 24-hour day.
It’s quite simple – bring your own cup/flask. It’s just behaviour-change like the shopping bags…and you’ll kick yourself (like with the bags) when you forget to bring your own. However, given that your own cup will not be sterilised or even clean, there will be disclaimers posted up by coffee-providers on hygiene and responsibility and will probably hike up the price anyway when their staff are ‘forced’ to handle alien cup ware!
Are compostable single-use cups not better for the environment than plastic reusable cups?
