Youth Assembly on climate change takes place in Dáil (RTÉ)

Meanwhile, on Today with Seán O’Rourke, presented by Miriam O’Callaghan…

A boy called Paddy, aged 10, who’s taking part in the assembly and who will be talking about the use of single-use plastic bottles, told Miriam:

“Well, it’s kind of, it’s like, you see this on TV. I’ve watched some of the Oireachtas TV before. And you think, like, you’re in there and it’s like a basin of politics squashed up and made into a stew.

“The chairs are all really, like, comfy and, really old, parliament-ish.

“I feel extremely excited. One because it’s the Dáil and two, because this is a chance to make a change in our civilisation.

“And we have to do it, unless you want to move to another planet. I quite like this planet.”

people in power see ‘climate action’ as a popular and trendy issue to appear to be onboard with. but will take no real action other than use it as an opportunity to introduce new taxes, the proceeds of which do not go into climate action.

RTE are already at it with that ridiculous weather forecast in Top Gear studio format farce last year with CathtroIn getting on in years now, whatsherface. and the latest waste 2 energy (toxic incinerator) propaganda segments on that new show about sub 90IQ gombeen irish familys and how they use the brown bin. And they get graded by a few baby boomers “expert” who you know are all landlords and look like child molesters. Jesus, Brasseye couldn’t make it up!!

Bet they’ll all ask Mummy and Daddy for staycations this and every summer, instead of holidays abroad… great kids altogether.

Maybe the will , these kids would love a free gaff but will get dragged onto the plane anyway ‘cos mammy and daddy need some sun after working sprit crushing jobs all year. And lets be honest, staycations are better than Irish holidays and hanging with your folks during your tweens sucks no matter how sunny a foreign holiday is. They are trying to save the future. let them at it. the adults aren’t going to fix the problem.

      1. Clampers Outside

        Let’s hope they do.
        Point of clarification…
Staycations are Irish holidays. Staycations are holidaying in one’s own country.

I think this should be a regular event
    Hosting different Agendas and Debates

There definitely should be one ahead of the next general
And one around the points system/ curriculum / college fees

The place isn’t used on Fridays anyway

      “The place isn’t used anyway”

      Fixed that for you.

Sure half the TDs only pop in between 21.00 and 21.59 to sign in and get away with doing nothing.
