    I’D HAVE TO SAY HOPE IS NOISE – SPEAK OVER YOU. IT’S A ROCK BANGER THAT I FIRST HEARD IN CORK WHEN SOME FELLA STRIPPED DOWN TO TO HIS JOCKS AND STARTED DANCING IN THE FOUNTAIN ON GRAND PARADE. GUARDS WERE CALLED, AMBULANCE CALLED, YOU COULDN’T GET HIM DOWN. GOT A HUGE CROWD AROUND HIM, MOONED EVERYONE, FLIPPED PEOPLE OFF AND HAD A RIGHT OUL DANCE.
    ANYWAY SOMEONE EDITED A VIDEO OF HIM UP ON THE FOUNTAIN WITH THE SONG “SPEAK OVER YOU” BY HOPE IS NOISE, AND I’VE NEVER FORGOTTEN IT, EVEN THOUGH I CAN’T FIND THE VIDEO NOW. IT WAS ON YOUTUBE AGES AGO BUT I THINK IT WAS TAKEN DOWN.
    HERE’S THE TRACK

    All This Time is one of my fav Irish songs let alone a Cork one. But for the sake of the game I’m going with ;

    Salonika. An old street song from Cork. And… the version posted below by Lynched (now Lankum)which I think is just brillIant, brilliant, brilliant!

    I’m in love with the opening line too, especially the way Ian Lynch sings it.

    Oh me husband’s in Salonika, and I wonder if he’s dead
    And I wonder if he knows he has a kid with a poxy head

    Love it.

      I think Jimmy Crowley sang it as; “…a kid with a foxy head”.
      But sure…artistic license an’ all.
