The Utah state senate voted unanimously yesterday to effectively decriminalise marrying multiple spouses

In Utah they’re suffering strife
As in that state polygamy’s rife
But now a new rule
Says it’s pretty much cool
For a chap to take more than one wife

More that they’ve given up thinking themselves…You want toddlers with machine guns? Sure. Jail people who have abortions? Absolutely. Cage children? Why, that’s a great idea.
      Pew-pew finger guns!!!

It’s odd that anyone in favour of “marriage equality” should be perturbed by this. If any two adults can enter into a civil contract to marry, there’s not reason why three adults or four, or more can’t do it.

i don’t think many are bothered by it. i’m more worried about japanese lads marrying their laptops tbh.

Oh I’m sorry, did i say I was perturbed?

Or are you inferring meaning based on *your* biases and prejudices?

Agree with Justin – I have as little problem with a man and multiple women, or a woman with multiple men, getting married, as I do with two men or two ladies (or indeed three men, or three ladies).

It is meaningless for the state (any state) to try to limit the scope of civil marriage amongst consenting adults if they’ve already allowed men to marry men and women to marry women.

In my experience anyone who requires more than one wife has to be certifiably insane, so maybe it will work in the states.
