Flattening The Cur

Professor Neil Ferguson and Antonia Staats

Last night.

The scientist whose advice prompted UK prime Minister Boris Johnson to lock down Britain resigned from his Government advisory position as it was revealed he broke social distancing rules to meet his married lover.

This morning, UK Security Minister James Brokenshire has called Prof Neil Ferguson’s resignation a “matter of regret” but an “appropriate course” of action.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, he said:

“I’m obviously saddened to hear this development and the actions Professor Ferguson has taken but, ultimately, I think it is the right course of action.

I think Professor Ferguson has taken an appropriate course given the issues of ensuring there is clarity of message on upholding the rules and requirements on social distancing and just why that matters so much in terms of protecting our NHS and saving lives.

It is a matter of regret but that guidance is unequivocal, it is there to protect all of us.”

How was this found out? Was there a journalist watching or something? It’s not like he just decided to shout about having an affair with a married woman now is it.

Very convenient timing- especially as the heat is being turned up on the government’s scientific advisors.

He embarassed the UK government by showing up their insane ‘herd immunity’ response and by initialising lockdown saved thousands of lives, so yes, the gutter press no doubt had him under a microscope.

      1. Orla

No Ferguson didn’t do any of those things, you got your own narrative from the gutter press, if the virus wasn’t exponential in function then he is wrong and he knew it, his lockdowns will cause more deaths with second waves, not least the lockdowns will cause a surge in deaths from other illnesses.
Sweden and Estonia deniers are GOD like Conspiracy theorists just on the other side of fence.

Keep working those false equivilancies. They really keep whatever point you’re trying to make utterly unmoored.

LOL. No outrage, it’s a beautiful day. Just sad to see incels fawning over Neil Ferguson’s affair partner. If that’s the height of your ambition, best of luck to you.

The people desperately trying to defend Ferguson are hilarious ,they are now creating conspiracy theories around why the media were outside his house, it was the same style of conspiracy theories when Trump got elected, no I don’t support trump but the desperation of the so called normals when reality isn’t working their way is priceless if not sad.
These “normal” people conspiracy theories are also taken aim at Sweden and Estonia, lies about deaths not reported in Sweden is just that, population density lols!

This whole covid19 saga has been stomach churning and disconcerting from the off, Ferguson’s models were based on exponential functions which are not there ,finally “other experts”are starting to discuss this, they say Ferguson had a right to alarm people now and in the past as this is encouraged in epidemiology!
The most alarming part is some people’s lives are so empty these days they were desperate for covid 19 to be worse than it was, we get why big pharma and bill Epstein gates wanted it to be so but the average folks on the street?
The normy conspiracy theorists are now saying trust the science ,Ferguson’s love life has nothing to do with it, people should look at the science behind broken homes from affairs not least the “science” says she could have infected him and his team of “experts”. What science by the way? Exponential functions?
The cherry on the cake of hysteria is when Ireland’s resident and “popular” conspiracy theorist gets the covid 19 -33 page legislative act by the 33rd dail thrown out for being unconstitutional, our legal profession couldn’t be bothered doing it and maintaining integrity, there is more money in suing the state for poor legislative acts afterwards or testing laws that get people like murderer Graham o Dwyer potentially out of prison, constitutional “Stuff” isn’t profitable ,at this point tinfoil hats will be in vogue.

On the bright “normal person “side we are doing much better the Covid 19 premier league table of deaths than the English………..

‘Media stalks public figure looking for scandal’ is a conspiracy theory now, is it?

      1. Orla

Looking for a scandal? Is that not what the public want in the contemporary capitalist media system ?
If this was Boris it would be ok or the orange loon stateside it would be fine and the witch-hunt would be seen as heroic.
Is it not in the public interest that the guy scaremongering governments flaunts the rules he recommends?

Any clown participating in wrecking homes deserves whatever scandal they get ,they could be mature and leave their partner instead of this.

Ferguson is flaunting Draconian lockdown rules he scaremongered governments into ruining lives with, that’s not ok to publicize?
What is ok is to take video and pictures of people from lower social classes like council estates flaunting the rules and create scandal that way in the media and the normal justice warriors up in authoritarian arms on social media about it.

The “normal people” conspiracy is the telegraph held back the story to cover bad number of deaths today, this is wrong and more likely they were delayed printing by legal action taken by Ferguson, it was also reasonable to spend 1-2 more weeks to see what else he would have got up to, this is in the public interest when we consider his exponential based models are More or less shutting down economies and ruining lives far worse than coronavirus non exponential deaths.

Politically connected sex scandals are delicious prolefeed for the culture loving media consumers. Journalists are happy to feed them and feed them. In 30 years time there will be a television series.
