Phil Hogan is ignoring calls to resign over Golfgate as it emerged he was stopped by gardai on his way to the event for using a mobile phone while driving

The EU Commissioner Phil
Is fast running out of goodwill
He took us for fools
And broke all the rules
And travelled while people were ill

two resignations for misconduct in a single political career would at least assure phil a place on pub quiz questions in the years to come

I can’t get my head around this story. How do they not see this coming? Whatever about the phone thing, it was a stupid thing to do but at least it’s a common fault of almost everyone. But the Golf night. What on earth were they thinking? How do they not know that the media has very little to write about except these things? Why can’t they just have a tiny bit of flipping foresight to see that if they break the rules it will be amplified? Absolutely bizarre. All they have to do is NOT do something.

A bit of a scofflaw is Phil
It’s seems that he has just one skill
    To do as he pleases
    despite widespread diseases
It seems that it gives him a thrill.
