This morning.

Great Denmark Street, Rotunda, Dublin 1

Belvedere College Principal Gerry Mooney (navy suit) at the doors of the secondary school checking for pupils not wearing masks.

The boys kindly refused to point out Mr Mooney’s fetching but medically inadvisable ‘mask with a valve‘.

Ad maiorem Dei gloriam.

Not useless for your man as it’s filtering the air entering his gob, but he’s expelling unfiltered air straight out the other end. The mask is as much for yourself as it is for other people. Actually, its strength and effectiveness is in limiting the spread to others.

If I know teens – and I do, I work with them – then I would say it is to some degree fashionable among the younger folk to wear them. This is only a guess of course.

That’s part of what worries me mille

Once it’s fashionable, it’ll be here forever.

I really hope I’m wrong and just being a bit paranoid. ;-)

@micko, pre covid, were all those Japanese or Chinese who wore masks as part of their day to day life deluded or something?

There’s no good reason to wear masks in the open, unless you’re at close quarters with people not of your household. I dont do it.

But you do see a lot of people doing it. Partly it may be convenience (not taking it off, on, back off, etc). There might be a fashion thing…..now that everyone is doing it.

            I really wouldn’t worry Micko.
