Taoiseach Micheál Martin announces that the county of Donegal will move to Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions as of midnight tomorrow night for three weeks….

Watch live here.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media One‘s Gavan Reilly asked Mr Martin about the rationale for the announcement that wet pubs in Donegal, on Level 3, can remain open, for serving 15 people outdoors, but wet pubs in Dublin can’t.

Mr Martin said the Government accepted advice from NPHET.

Mr Glynn said:

“NPHET recommended today that Donegal be moved to Level 3 of the framework which Government published and so the recommendation, or what will happen in pubs in Donegal is consistent with Level 3 of the framework.”

Mr Reilly asked Mr Glynn a further question which was not audible, but Mr Glynn replied:

When this thing broke into the news last January
Radio 1 had an expert – well they were all experts then too,

And he said then that the safest place to be was outdoors
And ideally somewhere along the Wild Atlantic Way

        Just saying

It’s safest to be outside somewhere windy alright, and Donegal folks are fierce tough, more than my chilly westbrit posterior. But the only option being outside is a bit depressing

Five levels, with extra sub levels. More flip flopping.

Looking at Nphet’s ‘minutes’ (still almost a month behind) it’s clear that those meetings cannot allow every member to have a say in each meeting. There isn’t time for 60-70 people to do so. Membership seems to change, and some regular members don’t attend in any format sometimes. Then there are many sub groups, whose minutes are many months behind.
It’s a joke at this stage. It’s spreading the ‘responsibility’ to many so that the few can do a Bart Simpson.
