“Give Us The Jab There So”

at

Ah.

Here.

Last night.

Claire Byrne Live on RTE One.

Claire Byrne, host of what is fast becoming the strangest programme on terrestrial television, ‘receives’ a drive-by flu vaccine injection from former Fine Gael TD and pharmacist Kate O’Connell.

Anyone?

Also: name that jammer, anyone?

Truly bizarre.. really totally bizarre television, I couldn’t believe what I was watching..

      LOL.. Wut?.. Again?… Ahhhahaha..

Ye, thought I must be day-dreaming after just seeing the the first pic or two of this article…
      – I’ll have to take time out and watch that soon, only after these initial giggles finally wear off…

Thanks BS, more of this surreal content please.. It’s always fun to watch rte once or twice a year for the unintentionally hilarious comedic genius going on…

I’m guessing nothing really scary happens, nobody get’s too ill etc?..
      – But does Claire need roads where she’s going and will she make it back from the future?…

      :-J

Haaaa haaaaa. That’s the first time I saw that. Up there with Theresa Mannion’s ‘Don’t swim in the sea’

You could see why O’Connell lost her seat.
That smug,self-satisfied manner of someone used to her snout being in the Leinster House trough.

      1. Charger Salmons

Funnily enough I thought of you when Claire said she doesn’t mind a small prick but prefers to look away.

dont tell me we’re heading into yet another winter of long, dark evenings with you sitting at home on your sofa thinking about my penis

I was hoping when she walked to the front of the car she was going to ask Claire to pop the bonnet and do the oil and filters. A three in one if you will.

A budding entrepreneur could surely twin ‘drive in flu jabs / covid testing’ with the NCT. If you fail either you just drive into a big pit and an excavator covers you over.

I actually tuned into CB last night
First time in ages, maybe even since the General E

And deliberately to see how deep this bitta Product Placement would go

    …king disgraceful

now don’t get me wrong it was a good feature – for daytime telly maybe
to demonstrate how drive by shots would take
but a former Fine Gael TD, and assumed still a Fine Gael Member getting what was at least 5 minutes on prime time to promote her day job

So unless the O’Connell’s paid for that segment, like Paddy Power did for a whole Tubs on the wireless live from Cheltenham – The board of RTÉ and its DG have no business putting the collection plate out if they’re giving away product for free

    1. Brother Barnabas

that’s what you get when you’re box office hotness, frillz

goodness knows, I know all about that

      1. Vanessanelle

Well if Kate was box office hotness
how is it we never heard her name in the loop for (rip) Marian’s spot, or in and around the O’Rouke shuffling, or the PT / News back and forths

Fair enough and I can see from the lads above they’ve a thing for hot Tipp ladies
        nothing wrong with that

But I’d never seen or heard of Kate O’Connell ever being considered for any of the gigs out there
and if she is box office hotness
        as you say
You’d think RTE would have make an effort to secure here while she was available for no money ish
Get good value for the licence payer n’all that

        1. Micko

Kate was my pharmacist when I lived in Rathgar

Nice lady, would always pop out from behind the counter to give you advice on stuff etc

          I hope she does well.

          1. V AKA Frilly Keane

            Big fan meself
Of her not so much her Politics mind
And have always said Leo should have had her on the last Government

There’s plenty pics of herself and meself from the Repeal Referendum here and there out and about

            I’m not criticising Kate
            I’m criticising RTE here

          2. Micko

            Ah fair enough.

I wasn’t really having a go about her. Just making the point that she was very well liked and did a lot for the neighbourhood. Usually makes for a good politician.

Surpirised she’s not in gov anymore tbh

          3. V AKA Frilly Keane

She wasn’t in the last Government Mick
            A mere backbencher
And it was the voters of DBS that turned their back on her
Then her own party by refusing to let her run for the Senate

          4. Micko

Oh yeah. You’re right, not in Gov.

Well shows ya how much I was interested in politics before all this Covid crap started ;-)

        2. ReproBertie

“I can see from the lads above they’ve a thing for hot Tipp ladies”
          Kate’s 100% Westmeath.

        3. Lilly

‘Well if Kate was box office hotness how is it we never heard her name in the loop for (rip) Marian’s spot’

Box office hotness doesn’t really translate on the radio.

  4. Alex Chilton

It’s a Renault Zoe ZE50. Renault would be a big advertiser for RTÉ so no surprise they got the spot.

    1. theo kretschmar schuldorff

I think it drove onto the set of the Calor Housewife of the Year show, 1991.
Kate really dealt well with the sudden arrival of the time-car, and was able to switch from scones, to 21stC health emergencies without missing a beat.

  5. Scundered

Always amuses me when folk waiting for injections turn their heads away to an angle where they nearly strain their neck, why not just close the eyes?

  6. Traolach

I watched it last night and thought it looked faked, her arm was not cleaned before jab and no plaster after, total indoctranation and state propaganda, no mention of the risks from vaccine.

    1. Junkface

What risks from the Flu vaccine? There aren’t any so far as I know (usually very minimal and rare). Has it changed much from previous years?

      1. E'Matty

You might want to research the Pandemrix flu vaccine and the settlement of that case in Ireland in October 2019. There’s the association of spontaneous abortion with receipt of inactivated influenza vaccine containing H1N1pdm09. There is also the issue of vaccine derived virus interference resulting in cytokine storms (which is the immune reaction affecting the worst Covid patients). Countries and regions with high flu vaccine coverage have also witnessed higher levels of Covid adverse outcomes.

        1. ReproBertie

Two separate studies on the flu vaccine and Covid have shown that the flu vaccine doesn’t increase the likelihood of catching Covid and can actually reduce the impact of Covid and improve patients chances of recovering from Covid.

    2. SOQ

Funniest part for me was when Claire arrived in a muzzle and as they socially distanced – she took it off and flung it down on top of the medical table- way to go eh?

      1. Junkface

Why call it a muzzle and not a face nappy? Or a flap of tyranny? Facial abortion? Satans underpants?

  7. GiggidyGoo

Maybe the Stick Insect can, as well, do a drive-by Late Late in future. 30 seconds long would be enough.
