The Councillors in Clonakilty with LGBT “rainbow crossing” proposals in middle of a pandemic & onset of winter take the biscuit.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Clon is playing catch up with the rest of the world. Their first colour tv was delivered yesterday.

        1. benblack

3d shaders, gamma, infra red, black light and many more tricks of light – the whole spectrum.

          Somewhere, over the ……

Gemma O’Dogerty and John Corpse Waters en route followed by a aul yoke with a crutch to rally the paytriots.

€50 is more sensible. Gardaí wouldn’t hesitate to fine someone a small but stinging amount. They’d be unlikely to impose a fine of a thousand, which could leave a family without food for weeks.

    2. Delacaravanio

Surely the Australian fine is $1,000? The Aussies would hardly be setting their fines in euro.

Anyway, there’s so many exemptions I doubt anyone is actually paying the fines other than idiots trying to make a point.

    3. GiggidyGoo

Its $200 for not wearing a mask, and $1682 for breaking lockdown isn’t it?

Judging by some of the videos of the police, Australia’s state coffers will soon be depleted when the assault and false imprisonment cases start to come in.

  2. GiggidyGoo

The Ministry Of Buzzwords releases its new creation. Circuit Break.

The wind has changed direction. Where the wind blows, Varadkar goes. Vrump.

    1. SOQ

That is a UK buzz word- which means fig all. They have to keep changing the terminology because people won’t put up with another indefinite lock down- but that is what it means.

      1. Charger Salmons

        Indeed.
It’s only a new buzzword down in Wexford because they still get their news from a feller ringing a hand-bell and shouting it out on the street corner.

        1. SOQ

You are like on of those foreign radio stations which keeps wafting in and out on a short wave radio when someone was trying to listen to the news Charger.

          1. Charger Salmons

Think of it as a light diversion from all the doom and gloom.
I let you catch up with my early protestations about how the Irish government was not being held accountable for unecessarily riding roughshod over civil liberties before stepping back.
Now I just see my role on here as trying to cheer up the restless natives as they squeal and mew.
And doing a bang-up job too even though I say so myself.

          2. SOQ

Oh come Charger- they making as big a mess of it in the UK as here- all our crowd are doing is playing ‘monkey see monkey do’.

Neither of which will make a blind bit of difference of course- its all about optics.

          3. Charger Salmons

            I don’t disagree SOQ.
            That’s why I don’t play the Covid-19 comparison game.
Unlike the Irish media in the early days.
But then they’re only singing when they’re winning.

          4. scottser

            ‘I don’t play the Covid-19 comparison game’

you absolute bare-faced, lying toerag. you did nothing but bleat on about ireland’s death rate in nursing homes and you’ve been on about how the uk started lockdown only at the weekend.
you are quite literally ten pounds of sh1te in a five pound bag.

          5. Charger Salmons

One has the right to refute incorrect information old chap.
            It’s hardly a blame game.

          6. Charger Salmons

Moreover,I think the rudeness of your post indicates some deep-rooted anxiety and longer term issues which I’m willing to help you address.
This is only an internet forum. There’s no need for such biliousness.
            Let’s talk bro.

    2. Cian

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment is looking out for enterprise, trade and employment.

      **clutches pearls**

        1. Charlie

But you’re on BS all day. You don’t have time for a job. 3.31am! 7.41am 8.48am and you’re just warming up for a relentless day of internet stress. Do you sleep?

    3. SOQ

So it turns out the buzzwords “Circuit Break” is the work of the one and only Neil Ferguson?

And he’s back in Downing Street apparently- how?

      Why?

  3. Charger Salmons

    Top o’ the morning.
And we start with some UK manufacturing news.
Jaguar Land Rover, Britain’s biggest carmaker, has restored two-shift production patterns at its Halewood and Solihull plants, as well as its £1 billion Engine Manufacturing Centre in the Midlands, to meet increasing global demand.
Meanwhile, an additional 700 people are set to join the Tempest programme. By next year, more than 2,500 people will be working on the British-led project – which includes BAE Systems, MBDA, Leonardo and Rolls-Royce – developing a replacement for the Eurofighter Typhoon to help keep the skies above Ireland safe from Bad Vlad.
    Marvellous.

    #despitebrexitandcovid

    1. SB

At the same time, Nissan and Toyota are looking to the UK government to reimburse them for extra tariffs incurred in the event of a No-Deal brexit

      1. Charger Salmons

        Trust your Uncle Charger.
        There will be a deal.
The EU can’t afford not to have one. They’ve already shifted a lot of ground and that’s even before Boris puts the real squeeze on their nads.
        He’s playing a blinder.

        1. GiggidyGoo

Walter Mitty out early bigging up Johnson. Johnson, of all people. Playing a blinder?
Such an inferiority complex eh Charger. Low enough on the SHI Troubles meter so far at 6.6 so far.
Once you hit above 9, will you bail out once again today?

          1. GiggidyGoo

Ah here Charger – when you have to rely on Alexander/Alexandria and Thessalonika to try help with your posts, the game is up.

What time will you bail out today, in a huff? Will BS have to change an account to ‘One username please’ again, and you get to throw your toys out of the pram.

Pull up the hood on that camping sleeping bag, tuck yourself in until 12:30, and finish off the large fridge pack of beans.

        2. bisted

…I’m trusting your idea of what represents a deal hasn’t changed…the EU rollover and give the UK all the benefits of membership with none of the responsibilities…no deal then…

          1. Charger Salmons

            Nope.
There’ll be a last minute compromise designed to save face for both sides.
Boris will throw a metaphorical mackerel on the table to keep the French happy and the EU will move even further on state aid than they already have.
Ireland won’t be asked its opinion this time round.

          2. ReproBertie

But will there be fudge? We were promised fudge last time. We were told there’s always fudge and there would, of course, be fudge and yet there was no fudge.

        3. Brother Barnabas

“There will be a deal. The EU cant afford not to have one”

just have to tape up my sides once the laughter passes, then I’ll be back to you, pal

          1. Charger Salmons

Frankly pal I’d rather listen to the opinions of GiggidyGoo and he’s got the brains of a rocking horse.

          2. Vanessanelle

Ye’re just about to get shunted Charage
            By a Woman
Ursula may well leave yis to it and allow the Paddys sort something out with the border with the EUs blessing

Aurleen and Mairead in a head to head
            Sammy and Simon

            C’mon
That’s like putting Leitrim into the Munster Hurling Championship

          3. Charger Salmons

Ursula was Germany’s worst defence minister since Wilhelm Keitel.
She wasn’t fit to lace Angela Merkel’s jackboots.
But a useful stool pigeon for Germany to keep control of the EU.
She’s do as she’s told when Frau Merkel gives the order.

          4. GiggidyGoo

8.4 on the Sure Have Inferiority Troubles meter already. Wow. Charger, you’re like a bump-and-go car this past while. Maybe a rest is in order?

          5. Vanessanelle

As will your bhoy Charage when Cummings (+ those lads he’s been knocking around with since the early 90s) does

you know any day now I’m expecting BonJo with the Bo Bo to appear on the telly somewhere with custard and jam all down his tie
and a big sneaky smeared chocolate face

    2. Joe F

That’s marvellous news Mr Inferiority complex man. Just ignore all the other negative news going on in the UK. How many cases were there yesterday, and the day before? You were bleating on a few weeks ago about how you could get a pint in the north of England and what all the fuss was about. I had to laugh when Bozo said the error a couple of days ago was due to some Excel spreadsheet filling up! I can send Hancrook an abacus if you want. Marvellous.

      1. Charger Salmons

Yes, not unlike Guinness that was bought by UK conglomerate Diageo.
Welcome to the wonderful world of multi-national companies that provide jobs and pay taxes.

        Heh x Business 101

        1. Brother Barnabas

ah, charger, you’re leaving your house without your pants on…

is there a single iconic british brand still in british ownership?

rolls royce is american (and so is cadbury, walkers, lyles, waterstones..), mini is german, tetley is Indian, dulux is dutch (buggers even got their hands on marmite and wall’s ice cream, two of charger’s old favourites). even jaffa cakes are turkish. the japs have got the financial times, the danish have got newcastle brown ale… it goes on and on. and where could you buy these brands anyway? qatari harrods? hong kong-owned house of fraser? harvey nichols? no, gone too. waterstones?nope. is there even a british football club still in british hands ?

all the yet-to-be-felt result of brexit. sterling has tanked and the foreigners are helping themselves to centuries of british effort. sadly itll be the brits at the bottom of the chain who’ll feel the full force of this in years to come.boris and his buddies will be fine.

          1. GiggidyGoo

BB has just produced the blowtorch. So many burns in there. Like burnt tomato sauce at the end of the bean tin. Pick the bones out of those Charger. Maybe a bar of God Save The Queen and a link to a few ships populated with US planes. Yeah – that’ll do it.

          2. Charger Salmons

            Think about it again Brother.
Guinness is Ireland’s ONLY iconic brand and it’s British-owned.
All those green pints hoisted on Paddy’s Day making a nice tidy profit for Diageo.
What’s that you say ? What about Murphy’s ? Dutch.
Well, when I say only iconic brand there is Waterford Crystal but that’s owned by the Finns.
            Aer Lingus ? Anglo-Spanish owned.
I could go on pal but I’m just surprised you’re at GiggidyGoo’s level of desperation this morning.
Birds of a feather etc …

            Heh x 3

          3. Brother Barnabas

ireland: small open economy on the periphery of europe

            britain: an econ-hehehe-nomic su-hehe-perpo-hehe-wer

            hehehe x infinity

          4. Vanessanelle

            who owns this gaff
that you can’t stay away from
            Charage

            You spend more time here
and give the gaff more effort in one weekend
than your entire engagement with all those other brands you’ve quoted in your life – combined – to date

          5. Rosette of Sirius

With more Admirals than Ships to boot….

Alf Garnet here is however the very model of a modern Major General doncha know….

        1. GiggidyGoo

Good man Walter. There’s a Morgan (car) dealer 5 miles (8 kilometers in normal language) from me – the only dealer in the country. The Morgan you’re looking for though is available in most bars. Aye Aye

  4. Q Celt

The publicans and the teachers, how do these groups get so much access to moan in the media. They burned their public support a long time ago.

  5. SOQ

Off-licence hours may be slashed to clamp down on house parties and stem spread of Covid-19

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/off-licence-hours-may-be-slashed-to-clamp-down-on-house-parties-and-stem-spread-of-covid-19-39596359.html

So basically the guards only have the power to advise but not insist. In the mean time they will be creating traffic jams all over the place while doing their ‘advising’.

A complete waste of time and resources.

    What is the bloody point?

    Ivor Cummins sez-

Enforcing meaningless and unconstitutional measures for simple reason – to try to claim afterwards that this made a blind bit of difference to an endemic virus

It won’t work. The science is clear. Too late for Tiger Horn distractions…

    Bread Week last night

    Soda Breads!!!!!
Easiest and best thing to do in a kitchen with an oven that can get to 200℃
    and for all SKILL LEVELS

Lads when you do one, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been doing them all your lives

Thinking now I might put together a recipe book, if anyone wants to help test, and design, @frillykeane

PS Overall not the greatest Bread Week in Bake Off, the Soda Bread Signature was a treat only for the likes of us really, In fairness, and ye’ll know I’ve looked down my nose on it over the years, Biscuit week was better this year so far. Still pegging in Lottie & Hermine for finals. And poor oul Rowan, shur t’was all over before Paul cut into his second soda; I’ll miss his old school camp. Anyway Chocolate week next

      1. Vanessanelle

        Sure
Best judge of my scones is Fluff btw

Also mine are decent sized, not quite Eddie Rockets burger size
But definitely not the Westbury Hotel miserable dainty they’ll insist you should be begging to pay a fiver + tip for

Over lockdown also developed a Breakfast chai & almond muffin (Marco says tis almost 100% vegan)
And a Brown Butter Spice biscuit – delighted with it
The dark chocolate chips were genius (✿◠‿◠)

        1. Lilly

Best scones in Dublin are Kilkenny Design. They have the dainty ones and the whoppers. Followed closely by Keogh’s on Trinity Street.

          1. Vanessanelle

As will your bhoy when Cummings does

you know any day now I’m expecting him to appear on the telly somewhere with custard and jam all down his tie
and a big sneaky smeared chocolate face

            We’ll see
I still haven’t found better (in Dublin anyway) than my own Sultana Scones

          2. Vanessanelle

            Sorry
My above post got mangled there with the left overs of another one

So yeah, have a great reliable recipe for Sultana Scones

Would love to hear from Broadsheet BakeSheeters about collaborating on a recipe book thing,
Fool proof stuff for the everyday kitchen & baker

ye know where I am etc

  7. Lilly

Anyone else uneasy at the spectre of a number of Supreme Court judges, including Donal O’Donnell and Iseult O’Malley paying Seamus Woulfe a visit to express their misgivings over Golfgate? Smacks a little of bullying.

    1. SOQ

Was this within a level 3 zone?

The irony of Supreme judges breaking the guidelines to discuss breaking the guidelines would be just too much.

  8. Charger Salmons

News just in – The Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK has concluded a three-year investigation into #CambridgeAnalytica, finding no evidence that it misused data to influence the Brexit referendum or aid Russian interference in political processes.

You hear that sound ? It’s the sound of the BS Tin-Foil Hatters stamping their feet and having a good old sqweam.

    Heh,heh,heh.

    1. Charger Salmons

      And there’s more…

The most important part of the @ICOnews report on #CambridgeAnalytica (and parent company SCL Group) is this: “on examination, the methods that SCL were using, were in the main, well recognised processes using commonly available technology”.

You can bet your last rouble this won’t be covered on Newsnight tonight.

      1. Charger Salmons

Amazingly considering all the posts about the EU referendum being ” fixed ” that have appeared on here over the last four years not one of those who wrote them seems to have an opinion.
        Marvellous stuff altogether.
