Fanacht The Flames

at

Ah, lads.

This afternoon.

the N7 carriageway out of Dublin

Eamonn Farrell writes:

More ‘[Covid-related Operation Fanacht’] traffic chaos this lunchtime, even though the Gardai made alterations to the streaming of heavy goods vehicles at the filter lanes at this check point yesterday (which resulted in some drivers using outlying routes through villages), after the huge traffic tailbacks which were caused by their presence on Wednesday….

No one said eliminating the rona from our roads was going to be easy.

This is pure Theatre. Gardai justifying the extra 15million on overtime with a public display….impact on Covid transmission zero!!!!!!!

Lines of Gardai giving people advice on motorways. (The overhead motorway signs can do that).

An abject lesson in how to alienate law-abiding citizens.

Constable Harris, Cover-up Holohan and Colander Varadkar need to go.

This will deter people from making unnecessary trips tho no? Therefore reducing the number of separate interactions therefore lessening the spread therefore lessening sickness / risk of long term health complications? It’s almost like this already happened with taxation on tobacco products which reduced the amount of people smoking which will reduce sickness / risk of long term health complications? Maybe not the most fair of mechanisms but gets the job done?

Sounds, pretty non essential and exactly the kind of travel that these checkpoints are trying to stop.
