Leo’s ‘High Standards’

at

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar (right) and Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe

This morning.

The government has ‘annuled’ Sinn Féin’s motion of no-confidence in Leo Varadkar called after it emerged the Tanaiste leaked documents relating to an Irish Medical Organisation pay deal to a rival union the National Association of General Practitioners (NAGP).

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe said TDs would view the issue “in the round” and accept that it was a single error made by the Tánaiste.

Via Irish Examiner:

Mr Donohoe said Government TDs and those who work with the Tánaiste accept two things.

“The first thing they accept is that the way in which this particular matter was handled fell short of the standards that Leo Varadkar has for himself.

“But the second thing I think they accept is that Leo has demonstrated the highest standards in his time in public office on the management and leadership of a whole array of masters for our country.”

Good times.

Meanwhile…

Mr Donohoe denied claims made in Village magazine that he had met with former NAGP president Dr Ó Tuathail twice last year.

Anyone?

To date no judge has been removed from office. Judge Brian Curtin, on whose computer child pornography was found, was not removed from office.

Woulfe has not committed any crime. His removal, prompted by views expressed by other members of the Court, sets a hugely dangerous precedent. It is shocking that the Supreme Court itself cannot see this. Meanwhile, the Gibney affair and the fact that he was freed as a result of a ruling made by Judge Denham on the application of her brother, Patrick Gageby, his counsel, goes undiscussed and unrecorded.

Desperately disappointing. Brian Walsh, Seamus Henchy and Niall McCarthy must be turning in their graves – and not because of Woulfe’s behaviour.

    Daffy’s well-chosen words. ROFL.

‘“The first thing they accept is that the way in which this particular matter was handled fell short of the standards that Leo Varadkar has for himself.’ translated = ‘Varadkar is a legend in his own mind’

    Ah lads – a bigger ROFL …

‘…. Leo has demonstrated the highest standards in his time in public office on the management and leadership of a whole array of matters for our country.”

How often Daffy met Tuathail is actually not important (at the moment anyway), but the fact that he met him with Varadkar is. Same goes for Harris’ accounts.

The “evidence” that the Village has published is photoshopped phone screenshots.

The “evidence” of meeting is hearsay – a message sent to a group saying they are going to meet “Leo” and “Paschal” for dinner isn’t proof that a dinner happened.

      1. GiggidyGoo

tsk tsk. One of screenshots had a line redacted. Nothing was added to the detail though.

        You wrote.

Who cares what was / wasn’t eaten, whether it was a dinner, a McDonalds, or a pre-packed sandwich. It’s proof of a planned meeting that evening. Notably, Daffy is reported with carefully chosen words ‘Mr Donohoe denied claims made in Village magazine that he had met with former NAGP president Dr Ó Tuathail twice last year.’ No doubt, the word ‘officially’ will be added to that statement in due course.

30th June 1:46pm – ‘heading for Lunch with Leo and Paschal now’
17th September. 4:48pm ‘Just having dinner here with Leo and Paschal’

Both in the present tense. Both items recorded electronically with time stamps.

          1. GiggidyGoo

            Lame.
You’ll be using the same argument for this then?
‘17th September. 4:48pm ‘Just having dinner here with Leo and Paschal’

Is that the official SCU line then?

          2. Cian

            Are we having lunch?

Because my mate has proof that says we are (I texted him again saying “Just having lunch here with GiggidyGoo”).

          3. GiggidyGoo

But sure I don’t even know you, I have no reason to have dealings with you, and I’ve never met you.
Stop trying to push me under a bus. That’s Leo’s forte.

Your attempts are quite childish actually. You’ve gone from photoshopping to the ridiculous. You shouldn’t be staying up so late to be first in with the days comments – it affects your posting. The SCU won’t be happy.

          4. Charger Salmons

Well there’s ‘ staying up late ‘ around 11.30pm-ish and then there’s getting up to post when the little hand is still at 3.
But I suppose those shelves won’t stack themselves…

          5. GiggidyGoo

@Charger. People like me keep this country running. People like you just leave a trail of slime. 3AM might be early for you, but normal for me. Now, off you go and see if peoplesrepublicofcork will re-instate you.

          6. GiggidyGoo

Jeebes – Cian has lost it.

Maybe it’s time to get back on track eh?

Varadkar gave a Confidential document to his friend. Despite his protestations, Varadkar isn’t entitled to do that. Resigning (at a minimum) offence.

Varadkar lied in the Dail last week as to the amount of times (2 or 3) he’d met the recipient of said confidential document. Lying to the Dail is a resigning offence.

So, thanks to Portroegirl, we find that (as regards Confidentiality) there are few exceptions to the Confidentiality rule. None of them apply to what Varadkar did.

            1.5
Confidentiality and Access to Government Records
            (a) Government discussions
Article 28.4.3° of the Constitution requires the maintenance of strict confidentiality regarding discussions at meetings of the Government except where the High Court determines that disclosure should be made on the grounds set out in that Article.8

            (b) Government documents
Subject to certain exceptions, Government records are confidential to Government.

Exceptions where all or part of Government records may be disclosed are:

in accordance with provisions contained in Freedom of Information legislation relating to factual information (see next Paragraph) and provisions relating to Government records which are more that 10 years old,

under National Archives legislation when they are more than 30 years old,

on foot of a judicial Order for disclosure. [The Courts established (the Ambiorix case) in July, 1991, that no Government (or Cabinet) documents were privileged from disclosure in court proceedings merely on account of their origin. Documents which the Government wanted to protect on grounds of executive privilege would have to be inspected by the Judge who would balance the need for secrecy against the interests of the litigant and the public in the administration of justice.]

Maybe Simon will accompany Cian to lunch or dinner to discuss that? Can invite by text, whatsapp or in person. Sure, invite Daffy too.

” People like me keep this country running ”

Definitely public sector. It’s the air of self-importance which gives the game away.
            And the self-delusion.
And the annual subscription to the Box Tickers and Allied Pen Pushers Trade Union.

          8. GiggidyGoo

Far from the public service. So anything you’ve written after that is diarrhea. Scoop it up and place neatly over the driest patch on the bedsit carpet. It won’t be noticed.
(Any word back from PRC? Have you been re-instated?)

          9. Charger Salmons

            Shelf-stacker it is then.
            Aldi or Lidl ?
They must have generous working conditions considering the amount of time you spend on here.

          10. GiggidyGoo

Ha haaaa. is that the best you can summon up Charger?

I suppose we’ll get to the Charger-cries-when-moderated stage soon. Didn’t take long for the boys in Cork to get rid of you mind.

Finish off the large can of beans now like a good lad, and open the plastic bottle with the blue cap and slug a drop of make-believe wine (or is it whiskey? ROFL). Maybe take a Magical Mitty trip abroad and report back on your exploits.
Don’t forget to buy some more shares either. The ones to get are KRZ by the way – nice friendly tip for ye

@GiggidyGoo: “People like me keep the country running”. The mirth! And they say Paddy Cosgrave is the one with a Messiah complex.

It’s an anonymous forum Giggs, so trying to present yourself as Mother Teresa, well, there is no way we can vouch for that, now is there?

            Delusional.

          12. MME

Oh GiggidyGoo! Just breathe for 5 seconds before you reply. You just make it too easy and frankly boring. I want zingers, not low wattage Shinner bottage and irritable replies borne of your exhaustion.

          13. GiggidyGoo

Sure playing with the likes of Mr. Multi-alias is a great pastime – looking to see the low level of education that exists out there. Thanks for so much fun. ROFL

          14. MME

Shucks GiggidyGoo! But I am not the one on here day, morning, noon and night. What degree do you have for that?!

“I keep the country running”. You little belter Giggidy! For this, I doff my cap to you. You won’t be able to top that one in a hurry.

If that selection of screen shots is really photoshopped then +1 for the author because it very immediately captures the tone and general attitude in its delivery and shorthand / spellng errors that to my mind fits the type.. I would say definitly a comfortable intelligence.. not anyone concerned with how they might be percieved but certainly also a series of exchanges which illustrate familiarity at the same time as appearing to be distinct identities…

  4. Toby

Its actually heartbreaking to see that all that codswallop about openess and transparency was just balderdash. I genuinely thought we were into new politics.

The media, the Greens and FF- have questions to answer- And I think the media more than anyone. How they have rowed behind this farce is unforgivable. If this was anyone else , they would be gone.

The motivation issue is ass as well. The road to hell etc….

  5. V aka Frilly Keane

    In fairness
Now that Paschal Donohue’s name has been dropped into it
You can be damn sure Leo will sail through the vote tonight
And this whole story will end up as grimy slush at a crossroad

      1. v AKA Frilly Keane

        doubt it

a bit of mocky ahh contrition and humility
        some feigned blushing perhaps
will be about the height of it

I’ll be delighted to be proved wrong
so I’ll wait up for it lads
