Meanwhile…

But that leaves two million of us prick-free.

The Broadsheet Eds have been screaming about just how benign the virus is for months now, they won’t need your stupid ‘medical science’ thankyouverymuch.

This vaccine is 90% effective against Covid 19. According to the current data the normal human immune system is 84% effective.

Am I missing something or is this 6% really the game changer we are being sold????

    1. SB

Not 90% effective like THAT. I think that what that figure means is that 10 times the number of people in the placebo group contracted the virus. 94 people out of 43,538 in the study got Covid, so only 0.2% of all the people – or only about 0.02% of those who actually got the vaccine. So you might say it was 99.98% effective, in one, non-scientific, sense.

Sure if it’s only lasting 6 months, is it really that great? Well, great for Pfizer shareholders.

“Speaking on RTÉ’s News at One, Dr Máirín Ryan said based on its research, it may not be possible for a Covid-19 vaccine to produce long-term immunity and a booster may be needed. Dr Ryan said one element of the antibody response that is being noted – neutralising antibodies – are waning after a couple of months.”

It would allow the virus to be gotten under control. If you had a 6 month period where most of the population had immunity the virus would (for all intents and purposes) go away.

Isn’t the whole point of the flu vaccine just to offer it to the old and vulnerable? Hence 1.5 million of a population of <5million should be more than enough to protect those that would be in danger when it comes to Covid19

You all be pleased to know that Blighty, which is home to 1% of the world’s population, has secured some 10% of the world’s vaccine supply.
I’m sure if there’s any left over we’ll bail out Ireland again.
    DON’T MENTION THE BAILOUT !
    Marvellous.

    1. Rosette of Sirius

So Blighty’s ratio of ‘secured’ vaccines per head of population is broadly the same as ours. Well, I think we’ve a few more, but still.
      Right so.

couldn’t give a fiddler’s. on the other hand I’m getting VERY grumpy staring at the four walls week after week. I expect to be let out for pints come December the 1st

Eh, is anyone actually doing the lockdown properly this time SOQ? I don’t think they are.

Most people I know act like they are in public, but none are sticking to any of the restrictions in their actions.

Everyone is popping around visiting relatives and friends, not wearing masks correctly, not staying within 5k, exercising once a day etc.

Sure even in my local shops half the staff don’t even care anymore and have the masks under their chins on the shop floor.

The general consensus to anyone you talk to is “it’s only a load of aul sh17e”.

And yet the case numbers keep falling – could it be because test rate have gone from 103k a week in October to 76k a week now. Who knows?

It’s a big old joke now and it’s all so we can give ourselves a big ol pat on the back in a few months and say “didn’t they do well”

        Brucey-bonuses all round.

Really? That’s not the case where I live. The only time I have seen anyone in a shop (either staff or customer) was today in my local post office, where neither staff member was wearing a mask. I was quite surprised at that, seeing as how many older folk use the PO on a daily basis, but aside from that, in terms of masks there’s been a good level of compliance.

There is absolutely a sense of weariness with ‘all this shite’, as I heard someone say this week, which is understandable. Feel that way a good bit myself.

For myself, I’ve tried to adhere to them. I shop local, I wear my mask, the only people I visit are my parents once a week. My kid plays out on the street with her friends but hasn’t had a playdate since August.

Deffo gone very relax around by me.

I have friends who preach from the highest tower about following the rules and how they see others breaking it, watching what others are doing etc .

And then I’m looking at them visiting their elderly parents with their kids (ie grandkids) who have been in school that VERY effin day with 30 other children. ie 30 other families

            Makes no sense.

Note: Not being a silly and saying you do that btw – just some of my mates. I'm not being judgy – I think it's all pretty pointless anyway. :)

  7. Joe cool

Damned if ya do damned if ya don’t. I hate this clown. but if he was to order and pay for way more than we need, he’d get hammered by some.

Keep up the sterling work GG. I have to admit I’m a fan of your commentary, and rarely disagree.

      ❤️❤️❤️
