This afternoon.

Kildare Street, Dublin 2.

Debenhams workers outside the Dáil calling on Taoiseach Micheál Martin to intervene in their redundancy payment dispute and convene talks involving the government, Debenhams shop stewards, Mandate and the store’s liquidator KPMG. They also called on the public to boycott Debenhams online store.

    I miss Debenhams.
I bought all my globe-trotting beach and lounge wear from them.
It was like a one-stop shop for the chillaxed Phileas Fogg.
At ladies night at Hedonism in Negril I was like a walking advert for John Rocha. His budgie-smugglers were a triumph of weapons-grade sartorial engineering. They could be whipped off in the blink of an eye.

Personally, I think that Michael Martin should solve all legal, business & personal disputes by decree.

oh they just did Rob-tut tut do try keep up.its tiresome:)

“Today I have a question for the Minister from the people of Cork North-Central about the Debenhams workers. Has either the Minister for Finance or the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation contacted Debenhams Ireland to ask it to reopen its stores at the appropriate time and to keep its workers in employment? Debenhams has announced an initiative in the UK which will see it reopen the vast majority of its stores and keep its staff in work. If Debenhams refuses to reopen its stores here then it must guarantee its workers the redundancy payments to which they are entitled. It must negotiate with the unions on a fair and proper redundancy package. If Debenhams gets away with what it is doing now, it will set a precedent and my worry is that I will be in this Chamber speaking on behalf of thousands, if not tens of thousands of other workers—–”

Covid is simply a accelerant, but say goodbye to high streets as you know them, good riddance.

Back to Parisian style hoods, the end of crap British junk shops, all over Ireland, local is going thrive, people are still going to spend, just not on this imported junk.

Saville Row is getting crushed, third sales are to yanks who watch too much the crown.

That is just so funny coming from a clown like you that has no idea of how to use a comma in a sentence. We can all make typos, but you clearly don’t know basic grammar old boy. Do a Google search on the use of a comma before you start commenting on other people clown man.

not in Norway, flogged for few pounds to keep bailiff away, sad really.

“American Anglophiles are the street’s not-so-secret sugar daddies. New York, Los Angeles, and a few other U.S. cities account for roughly one third of all revenue on the Row, managing directors here say.

Fortunately, the biggest landlord on the street has pockets deep enough to afford some rent forbearance. Most of the Row is owned by one of the richest entities on earth: Norway’s $1.1 trillion sovereign wealth fund. It owns a majority of the Pollen Estate, a holder of prime acres of central London real estate for nearly 400 years.”

wonderful deep dive, you have walk to your tailor, anything else is uncivilized.
