      We already pay.

      Have done for generations.

      Who else pays?

Are you one of those idiots who thinks you can make us pay twice?

      1. Cian

Obviously the traditional method of central government paying for water and sewage treatment just doesn’t work.

Perhaps we should look how at practically every other developed country provides water/waste services and get some pointers.

        1. scottser

privatising water supply will lead to ever increasing costs to the consumer. that is what other countries have taught us.
in fact they would do well to take a leaf out of our book.

          1. Fanacht

Cian still wants us to pay twice.

He forgets we sorted this out years ago:

They answer is : FUPP OFF!!!!

          2. Cian

The problem is that we aren’t even paying once.

There isn’t enough money being invested in water/waste (and hasn’t for decades).

We need to put more money into water/waste. To do this we need to raise taxes.

If the money comes from a “water/waste-tax” is can be ring-fenced into water/waste. Otherwise it won’t happen (based on history) and we’ll continue to have water/waste issues.

          3. Fanacht

            Lies Cian.

20 b paid over the last 25-30 years.

Graft is the problem: Crony sweetheart deals, Privatization by stealth. And you want to enable more of it.

Again the answer is: FUPP OFF!

How many times do you need to be told?

          4. Cian

Go on, tell me again, you know you want to.

But, let’s do it your way, and continue to repeat the same mistakes as the last 80 years.

20 b paid over the last 25-30 years.
            what does this actually mean???

the man.the legend.way ahead his time.
“‘Dublin Bay’ highlighted his opposition to certain proposals to redevelop the bay area—particularly a request (1972–6) by a shell company (backed by the French state oil company and unidentified Irish businessmen) to build an oil refinery beside Poolbeg power station. Almost immediately he became widely known as ‘Dublin Bay Loftus’. Before cheap air travel, the beaches of Dublin Bay were the principal recreational amenity for most of the city’s population. (The Loftuses liked to stroll down the North Bull island; Una swam while Seán combined nature observation with the children and pointing out where raw sewage was pumped into the bay.)Loftus’s campaign against the refinery proposal led to his election to Dublin Corporation

…and marijuana,Gino shall we say represents more the logistics end the business.
the greens should be representing growers, cultivators, farmers.
working with farmers/co-op’s and unions to set up apprenticeships, training.
its a billion euro domestic market alone.

Gino should not have this incredible green job making industry all to himself,he puts off investment and development.

Lol. “Rich Boy Barrett”. Classic Sinn Fein smear. Dun Laoghaire is a target seat for them. I’m not welded to one party or another but I find SF political tactics (and their opposite-side of the same coin FG) nauseating and Trumpy.

    1. Brother Barnabas

that particular sobriquet emerged from the bitter division between the trotskyist socialist party and the neotrotskyist socialist workers network

cheap, lazy notion that you’re not a real socialist if you have a university education

      1. Cian

What? you mean “posh boy” Eoin Ó Broin – alumini of Blackrock College, University of East London and Queens University Belfast isn’t a real socialist?

  3. Brother Barnabas

    “sewage treatment”, not “sewerage treatment”

is it so wrong that these things bother me ?

      1. Brother Barnabas

what’s funny though is that if I ever comment beneath one his cut-and-paste diatribes, he goes all beavis and butthead “living rent free in your head, bro… seriously man etc etc” (albeit not with correct spelling or punctuation) and then whinges ad nauseam about being harassed

yet he thinks I need “some self reflection”

          1. Brother Barnabas

‘beyond’ is the word you’re looking for, johnny

really do wonder if your “very important and prominent daddy” feels he got value for that “very prestigious secondary school” you attended

I’ve been living in DL for the last 20 years or so and RBB has campaigned on many local issues even before he was elected to the council and later the dail … Since when is clean water a middle class issue … since when is not wanting to swim in shyte a middle class issue. Idiotic comment from the first poster.

      1. Johnny

        Where exactly would that be?
Spain, some poopyhole criminal infested Mediterranean island, fun in the sun with guns.
        He’s a populist,no real policies,their cannabis bill was embarrassing.
They have the entire cannabis space to themselves, but because Gino’s base is distribution, instead farming its all a bit awkward.

        1. Brother Barnabas

in exact, specific terms, that would be ireland

no real policies? with respect, johnny, you’re a cut-and-paste spoofer who was exposed as a know-nothing eejit a year or so ago with your “column” when actual expert popped onto BS and ripped you to pieces. so keep your “no real policies” idiocy to yourself. you havent a clue.

          1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

you wouldn’t know class of it jumped on your back as that comment just goes to show

          2. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

don’t worry brother he shows himself up constantly with the garbled toxic jibber jabber and personal attacks, back to ignoring him is best :)

      2. Johnny

Which one the bills they introduced resonated most with you bro,and where your going,I’m familiar and open to discussing their failed medical cannabis bill, that got a reading and went committee.
…..Or just full of it as usual bro.

    1. Cian

Haha, then RBB would be the largest party, and SF would have 2 seats! :-)

I know a person can be in a TD candidate in more than one constituency – if they get voted in twice – can they take both seats? and do they get two votes? do they get paid twice?

      1. v AKA Frilly Keane

        Haha back at ya C!an
you know damn well what I meant

that RBB is a superb representative
and there isn’t a Constituency in Ireland that wouldn’t want him

away out that with your stupid petulance
        You’re fooling no-one bhoy
t’would be more in your line to sit back, and take notes when the man is on his feet

Because that’s the Politician and TD we deserve
not some overly PR’ed spoofer with an ego more fragile than a Creme Egg, who relies on his ability to dish out jobs and make promises to lads just to stay in with the crowd

Leo as an independent or small party rep
would have had a shelf life of a Aldi Super 6 bag of onions

        1. Brother Barnabas

          +9,650

(although it’s a disappointment that he hasn’t been able to build the party on the back of his own profile and popularity – PBP seem to let whoever fancies it to go forward on the ticket; not sure its doing the party any favours)

        2. Cian

          Jeez, chillax gurl!

But my point stands – if there were a candidate like RBB in each constituency they would cannibalise the sitting independent/SF candidate’s vote.

          1. v AKA Frilly Keane

ahhh so that’s why you don’t want quality like Richard Boyd Barrett replicated in 38 other constituencies

ye wouldn’t be able for it
            ha,
all those jobs for the boys come in handy alright

          2. Brother Barnabas

you’re assuming that RBB only collects votes from voters who otherwise would have voted SF or Ind

that’s not borne out by what’s actually happened in DL

traditionally FG and FF (and PDs) would have 3 seats between them – Greens and Labour generally sharing the balance. SF and Ind have never fared well

since he got elected, he’s taken the Green seat (2011 and 2016) or one of the FF/FG seats (2020)

contrary to Johnny’s repeated assertion that I’m a tax exile knocking around with criminals on the Costa de Sol, I mostly live in the DLR constituency – and, as you know, Cian, all sorts vote for RBB – including middle class professionals

          3. Cian

sorts vote for RBB – including middle class professionals
yup – same is true of SF.

I just think that his left-wing socialist policies are much closer to SF policies than FG/FF. SF have been very weak in DLR – possibly because RBB is hoovering up all those votes?

2016 was weird in DLR it was effectively a 3-seater because Barrett’s seat (Ceann Comhairle) wasn’t contested.
